The ones who are getting to go into Europe, different places looks like a good crack Fairplay , but living like a cab rat in the tin can parking on the same ind estates and eating pot noodles and being the security guard for the night all for a measley 25 sheets f that
Yep, it is/was a good crack, although in most cases the Euro job is [zb] ed these days.
Could not agree more on your second point… sounds like purgatory.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
sounds terrible.
i wonder if theres any uk dudes doing euroland work like that?
ive yet to meet one doing it on and off for years.
Totally agree with something that was wrote earlier, work is work and home time is home time, before my injury I knew my week was two trips into USA load each time at same spot and reload in Canada for following week . Sometimes just the two rounds , then park up at home or at yrd. So it was a case of please myself how I ran. Stopped at good steak restaurants etc , usually ran my 11hrs then took my 10 off on first run then slowed down if I had nothing on on Friday morning or ran my hrs and finished Thursday.,not worth slowly stressing my self over a load o soy meal . Jimmy ment to say pay by km , overnight meal allowance paid back at tax time3 meals at90percent o $28 ish per 24 hr period ,

10 , 16 or 21 year old malt? Personally I wouldn’t drink anything else but the Black Bush.

Well as a tramper I don’t have to run home to the yard every night - so theres a big saving in fuel - how much fuel does a fully loaded truck use in an hour ? Instead I can use that hour to get close to my next drop . That means I have an hour more driving the next day meaning I get a little more done each day - more work done - more money made .Over the course of 5 days it all adds up - the truck has more paying miles done , less dead miles all adds up to a more profitable truck and if your smart and pick a good employer there will be more money in your pocket . And I’m not just talking night out money here . I’m paid better than what others in our yard are getting . I cook my own food and suit myself as regards start and finish times . No stressing about if I’m getting home in time , I have regular runs , plenty of parking spots mostly all with toilets and some with showers , some in customers yards with no problems regarding ovenight parking . I leave the house on a Monday return on a Friday night/Saturday morning and don’t expect to be home between that , sometimes I am and count that as a bonus . When I’m at home - I’m at home , when I’m at work - I’m at work I keep the two places very seperated . It works for me - only once in 20 years have I missed the Friday/Saturday night steak dinner , preperation and planning all help and a good boss that knows if I’m slightly off the planned route its for a good reason (usually for a bit of shopping or a shower ).
I got pulled at Perth one afternoon and cop said you were over your hours by 5 minutes 2 days ago . Yep i replied I refuse to park in a layby on the side of a road with cars and trucks going past shaking the cab every 2 minutes you dont get a good nights sleep . I look for a layby thats in off the road at the very least where you dont get shook everytime something goes past . No problem he says .
3000 wat inverter to power the microwave , toaster , kettle , tv and firestick . Unlimited internet on the phone and a gas stove and , kettle and saucepan as a back up. A fridge full of good food and a cupboard full of biscuits , crisps , tins of soup etc .
I’m happy in my own company - I don’t need to be the center of attention its a lifestyle (if you want to call it that ) that suits me - it might not be for everyone but thats ok , other people do different things and thats ok as well .
As you can see I get a little further that the average dayman and I like that as well breakfast in a different place each day and a different sunset every evening .
You remind me of my auld Da, hes been doing the same for 25 years, and I’m going to be doing the same once training places get back to the norm for my class 1. how did you track your locations in that picture?

I think the only people paid 24hours are HM Forces?
24 hours paid at at least minimum wage - would be quite good… I suspect that it works out lower than NMW though, alas…
…asumming we’re talking about active duty abroad where no NMW applies, of course…
At HM forces every paypacket is a fortune, and every naffi meal a banquet.
You’re not supposed to be there for the “money”…
