So,6 months on!

It is now just over 6 months since the limit was raised on A roads in England and Wales, according to some on here it would lead to a crashed LGV on every bend, being expected to do two runs instead of one and men who were paid by the hour losing thousands a year in wages etc.
So what is the reality? I don’t use UK A roads that much but it certainly has made a difference in East Anglia, and the A41 seems to run a lot better without the Grocontinental and Cullina rolling road blocks, although not sure which Tesco depots cover that part of the country but the message has not got through there, they actually seem to be going slower now 35mph the other night!
The majority of accidents still seem to occur on the motorways and the causes roughly the same, night trunkers falling asleep, Left hand drive side swipes and people travelling to close so overall has it been a success?

I work for tesco paid by hr in Scotland changes don’t matter to me so why speed.?

Paddies and scots still trying to shove people up the S/C sections of the A66 but personally I feel more awake by the time I’ve got to the other end doing 50 than 40.

We get a run sheet with an estimated time of run on it so all it means is an extra 10/15 minutes a shift tossing it off in a MSA so we don’t get back too early however that only really affects a couple of runs as most on nights at my spot were mostly motorway with the odd short bit of A road at either end.

6 months on and I’m still stuck behind people doing 40 up the A15!

6mth long time on A15[emoji1], you’ll be celebrating an anniversary like the overtaking thread [emoji23]

Ive not noticed any problems time wise, depending on road I’ll sometimes get to 50, most are only 45 tootle along.

Not holding anyone up nor held up that I’ve been aware of

Theres a few brave uns who do 50 even when I cant, maybe im getting old and not as foolhardy as I used to be. In general though ill tootle along at 45 - 48 if safe to do so and on really wide bits be at 51ish (yes im naughty).

A road drives I find more relaxed with less worrying about cameras and my speed, more attention to the road is inevitable and more time for tea and sarnies.

Me sat nav is still set at the old limit and even 30 minutes on the A605 yesterday only shaved about 2 minutes off the journey time, maybe im plodding along too much or the difference between 40 and 50 is a bit of an illusion with so many other factors involved that unless your spending hours on A roads the quicker trip time eqautes to maybe and extra ■■■■ stop.

Should be Peterborough & some from Dagenham.:imp::twisted:

come on robroy! it’s not quite been the disaster you proclaimed it would be

The first time I tried it my socks caught fire.

Must agree with the Dipper on this one, makes for a more relaxed drive, I always did 50 anyway where I deemed it to be safe so it saves constantly checking if the Rozzers where behind you or looking out for speed cameras

I don’t go with the “I’m paid by the hour” crew, as far as I’m concerned the sooner I can get there, get tipped and get back again, the sooner I can get home

i aint noticed much diffrence to be honest

No difference really, apart from getting held up more by car drivers with shaking head syndrome
