SNOW

Yep… Snow in London… dunno what I’m still doing up, but its 3.10am… looks like its settled but melting already, which means its gonna be icy in the morning…

Half an inch here, and laying.

Severe weather warnings compiled here:

It will get very icy out there tonight.

Yipes. And here’s me on a night trunk for Securicor tonight as well. shivver

Good luck out there, drive slow and stay safe.

Woke up this morning snow had all but gone. In the last 10mins its snowed & settled & still snowing. Take care on all roads around Kettering loads of accidents.
PLEASE TAKE CARE. {The only thing I like about the snow is that my garden’s as good as nextdoors.}

[here in Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington we are in the wintry blast with snow and ice and cars and vans not heeding the weather warnings and slipping everywhere and blocking the roads.

I usually go for fish/chips for a group of people on a wednesday, I explained I was not going out, one lady has told me I am selfish. guess who can get her own in future

There is a Tab thats titles Hour-By-Hour… this is where it tells you when its gonna stop…

I think Newark has had the worlds smallest snowfall, we have had very very little here but 12 miles up the road in Lincoln they have had 4" of it.

Chubby Brown circa 1989 I think.

Surprisingly,we’ve had little snow in Wakefield, although my mate has written his W reg Vectra off today on sheet ice near M1/A1 on a minor road that runs underneath.

And can anyone tell me what happened to the gritters in the East Yorkshire today?
I was travelling to Hull this morning, and there were plenty of gritters out in West Yorkshire, but as soon as you crossed the county line, they were non existent all the way to Withernsea on the east coast.

Ken.

Just read that a lorry has run into the central reservation on the M11 near Junction 8… down to one lane both ways. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Lets hope the driver is okay… is it someone on these boards I wonder■■?.. :unamused:

Oh, and the Dartford Bridge is closed, being diverted through the eastern tunnel…

Pat Hasler:
Yeah its bad … we expect 3 foot tonight, still have to go though.

Isnt it funny how the Yanks allways have it BIGGER than everone else?

I’m not a “YANK”, I’m as English as anyone there. The reason we get such large amounts of snow is because of ‘Lake effect snow’, rain passing over lake Ontario and erie freezes and drops huge amounts of the stuff on us, i was stuck in 2ft for 4 hours this morning. It ain’t funny and it ain’t bragging, lots of people get killed including a truck driver whos truck is down a ravine not 3 miles from here.

I know your not a Yank!

My question still stands though!
I know a few Yanks…in fact my Dad was one so i am qualified !

Take care out there!

Here in Nuneaton we had rain before the snow this afternoon, then the whole lot froze and so the town is currently gridlocked with everybody still trying to get home from work. Just taken me 2.5 hours to get from Birmingham Airport and the last hour was in the town traffic. Still got to go and put the truck away but I’ll leave that till later.

I think you have the entire US confused with the state of TEXAS. Trust me on this…everything is NOT bigger in Texas. :grimacing:

if any off you have loads up to north essex dont bother trying to get here as they havent gritted the a120,a133 into clacton and its like a ice ring up here even my father in laws land rover had trouble keeping control on the roads and hes a driveing instuctor.but the beach looks nice.

Snow…what is that…■■? We don’t get snow here in Phoenix Arizona, where it is almost always warm, and I go to work everyday in shorts and a tee shirt…hahahahaha. I don’t miss the weather back in the UK, or even for you guys on the Eastern Seaboard, you should all move to sunnier climes, why the heck do you think I am here.

We do get snow in Arizona, actually the skiing is preety good, you only need to drive an hour or so north to get to it, but its not for me, they can keep it, I’ll just stick with my 62degrees(17c) every day or better.

Cheer up, it will all be over soon.

Be safe out there guys

Stuart

Phoenix?? Why would I move to Phoenix? It’s decent in the winter time but come summer…gads!!! You can fry eggs on the sidewalk…besides I only know cuss words in Mexican. :grimacing:

Hey Hair, if you only know Mexican cuss words, you would do just fine here…lol

Stuart

Grrr @ snow :frowning:

Was being tipped in MK at 3pm on Wednesday when it started. 45 minutes of hell and nearly 3" of snow !

As it was my first time in a wagon in “deep” snow :sunglasses: I gingerly edged out onto the road (empty :open_mouth: ) and then came to a halt in the traffic with all the car driving numpties doing 0.000000001mph in 1st gear wondering why they weren’t getting anywhere, still driving 2mm off the bumper of the car in front. Saw loads of shunts but niftilly (is that a word ?! Looks cool anyway :sunglasses: ) avoided them all.

Left MK Tilbrook at 3.45pm, got on the M1 north at J14 at 7.15pm :open_mouth: sat in solid traffic between 14-15 for over 2hrs, got bored and then parked up on the hard shoulder like all the other truckers, pulled the curtains round and went to sleep. Looked out of the window at 12.30am and they were still stacked up. All gone by 5am Thursday morning but the M1 was awful with compacted snow and ice. Got past J15A and then it cleared up.

Everyone’s blaming the gritters but I don’t; it doesn’t matter how much grit you put down, you ain’t gonna stop 3" of snow settling when it falls in 45 minutes.

tuesday i had the miss fortune of being on the a19 at sunderland when it came down (and boy did it come down) crawling along at 25mph most of the way down it.
got to borobridge and it was clear as a bell.

wednesday i went down to camarthen and swansea as i left burton i could see the clouds behind me.there as been no snow in wales at all this week
it took me 3 1/2 hours to get to swansea it taken the mother in law the same time to do 6 miles
