Snow on trailers

dew:

The Sarge:
Pick another trailer? You mean like one that hasn’t got the load on? OK, you go ahead my friend…

What if the company in question doesn’t have 24,000 trailers to choose from? Or it’s a Rigid?

Your screwed pretty much

KERREKT!!! :smiling_imp:

snow can be removed by throwing a strap over the top of trailer and enlisting the help of a colleague to walk the length of trailer on one side whilst you do the same on opposite side dragging the strap along and repeat as neccesary

bigbeefy:
would the weight of the snow / ice put you over weight ifso what would vosa say or do about it ■■

vosa would do nothing as it is a defence if the weight has increased due to weather conditions, there would be a lot of tipper drivers in trouble otherwise every time it rained

My brother in law, who is a traffic rozzer, told me that his force will prosecute drivers that fail to clear their cars of snow if it comes off and causes damage to persons or property. No mention of trucks though.

Ken.

You got to use common sense if the snow is 3ft high on the trailer, then point it out to the managers it could be a danger to other road users…put the ball in somebody else,s court thats what they get paid for
Usually they will tell you to crack on,but if your not happy always stand your ground. They will always back down when you ask them to put it in writing that they will take responsibility :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Never get on a pallet ask the forkie to lift you up and sweep it with a brush them days are long gone

Hiya here in north wales the snow on my truck is almost a 2ft thick. the box is only 15 feet long.
i’ll bet you and half a dozen mates can’t drag a strap a foot along the roof yet alone the full lenght of it.
i would think there’s maybe 3 ton of snow on the roof maybe more. its a good job its not due out for a
week or so.
there was so much snow on the wheelie bin lid it must have weighed 70 or so kgs. that took enough lifting
and one side is hinged.

simple solution is to get a piece of wood on both ends drill a hole and fit a length of rope either end that is long enough to go down both sides then simply you and your mucker walk down the trailer removing the snow, then make a very nice snowman at the back of the trailer.

dont quote me on this as its from memory but i’m sure i’m remembering correctly, we used to use a weighbridge near lincoln, it had 4" of snow sat on it that had fallen over the weekend and the weighbridge was showing 600kg on the display.
