Snow expected - fri/sat/sun 22/23/24 march 2013

Drive carefully - Drive like an Ice Road Trucker this weekend.
Better still - stay in bed.

Much of Britain faces a white weekend with widespread snow and strong winds.

The arrival of around 4 inches of snow from Friday is likely to affect most of the UK.

Only south coast counties, part of Lincolnshire and East Anglia expect to be spared.

The snow will be accompanied by strong winds of up to 65 mph.

Let us know how you cope with the snow.

How I’ll cope? Just fine I guess, it’s usually the muppets in cars that screw it up for me when the white stuff falls…

I wonder how many LGV drivers will not go out if they deem it unsafe when the boss says they must or suffer the consequences of not doing so ?

I’ve just got home from 3 nights out. Was told at work before I left “you’re in at 7 tomorrow, just 3 drops, York & Hexham & Carlisle” (I’m based in Stockport

Might just prepare for another night out!

jimmy.

this might be of topic but I have been watching it this time and they keep talking about money, how much do they get paid?

jobs on kijiji winnipeg in january were $10k for 2months running Manitoba bush/ice rds.
$7.5K … highway running trailers to start of bush/ice rds.
jimmy.

Hi all.If you get 4’’ of snow in the UK you won’t ‘‘cope with it’’.The UK will just shut down. :unamused: Mike

that was a good investment then… spending 20 quid on a truck wash! :unamused:

AMBER SNOW WARNING FOR ALL TRANS-PENNINE ROUTES.

It’s a safe bet that even Alex Debogorski will not be using the Snake Pass or
Woodhead Pass this weekend - (he left his snow chains on the Dalton Highway.)

All the matrix signs around the m62 warn of severe weather, thought summer was on its way, it was 17c couple of weeks ago!

And to all those people that moan about how the uk grinds to a halt because of the weather is because we dont invest in the right equipment because we only get it every now and again… Who do you know that bothers to fit winter tyres and carry chains in their car and or truck…

took my snow chains out of the side locker the weekend before last - based on the same assumption as you mate… summer should be showing up at any time!!

Problem is, if one goes out then “all should go out.”

But if I deem it unsafe - I don’t go out. End of story.

I don’t drive an ambulance, I don’t drive a fire engine. I am not essential traffic.

I don’t do dangerous driving. They can stick the job up their ****hole if they wish.

Im not surprised your well prepared! My boss wouldnt provide equipment like that but i do carry a shovel which has got be out of trouble. I do have winter tyres on my car though.

When the weather is bad my boss normally tells me to slow down and if i felt it wasnt safe to continue i know they’d support that decision, but really if the weather is that bad your not going anywhere anyway as all the roads will be at a stand still.

At first glance would tend to agree but the cost of living would be less out there?
Was recommend to carry a spade in snowy conditions.
I did once . . and the ■■■■ mugged me.

pension, health insurance and those kind a stuff are by my knowledge also things they have to pay by them self or am I wrongly informed? Food probably not that cheap either up there.
Adding those costs and driving on Ice up in nowhere. Think I keep to Norway, the pay is even better.

Great, I’ve just provisionally said yes to going to Kidderminster to collect a 22t 360 on Sunday. Oh well, I suppose if you are going to get stuck on the M40 for 17 hours then being on double time eases the pain.

Its been snowing all bloody week! I had to get towed up a hill by a jcb on monday ffs
