Snow Calamity in Central Europe

Started yesterday, not getting better today (probably worse), it won’t get better on busy Friday tomorrow.
Affects SK, CZ, south PL (Silesia), NW PL, AT. One meter of snow fell down in last 24hrs, less elsewhere but there got strong winds. Poor visibility, slipper roads, strong winds, accidents, closed roads… proper mess.
Border crossings Svrcinovec (CZ-SK), Makov (CZ-SK), Harrachov (CZ-PL) are closed to heavy traffic. S16 in Voralberg and A1 and A10 around Salzburg closed. The road between Svrcinovec and Zilina (~40km) is one long queue of trucks. Red Cross is giving out tea and snacks.

Had a fair bit in Silesia, Poland, come in a short space of time, but strong winds have been causing a lot of drifting snow overnight in our region. We were up at 5.30 to dig a route out for the workers in the family, can report all children managed to get to school, local fire truck pulling the buses through the worst of it. I work from home right now and my only venture out was to get some fire wood and that was enough for me.

yeah heard out there - bad snowing! lucky me - escaped from the snowing! I was in Poland last week - no snowing just tiny white flakes! but it was very freeze! from -15c to -20c! :open_mouth: good experience though! :sunglasses:

Its warmed up nicely, down here we got -20 to -30 at night and during the day -20 to -10 even with sun, perhaps 3 weeks like that, now the snow brings it just below zero to - 10, shorts out soon.

Cadca region in SK got 104cm in 24hrs - most since records began.

I was in Verona, IT, last week - apparently the coldest week they had in ages: -5degC and snow every other morning that actually last whole day  When people made or received calls they just stuck the phone between ear and hat and hid their hands into pockets
