ady. That makes them green because they use the heat from Drax to heat the greenhouses. I know the air tastes different there not sure what that does to the salads.
One of the best ive stopped at is on the east bound side [ manchester side ] of the a628 w/head rd.The lass there keeps a smart van and the food is excellent. The main trouble is getting in the lay by.

On the subject of snack vans, there is one that deserves mention in my opinion. The van in Inveralmond Industrial Estate in Perth (just outside CJ Lang Foodservices) does the best steak burgers and cheeseburgers i have ever had. I’ve seen myself drive a couple of miles out of my road whenever I am remotely near Perth just to take my break there.
2 Steak & Cheese Burgers and i’m set to attack all the day’s drops! [/i]
I can fully recomend this Snack van, its in the big lay by after the level crossing between Sleaford and Grantham. I stop there every time I got to our job in Sleaford.
The place is very clean, food is well cooked and good value.
I’d sooner stop at lay bys than some of the cafe’s, at least you can see where stuffs being prepared.
Just to let you all know that Carol has had her appeal refused and it is an a/h at the Highways that department that says an accident could happen because of drivers coming in and out of the lay-by. Accidents happen all over our roads and the only way to stop them is to ban all vehicles in case of an accident that may happen. We are not giving up and I am in the process of writing to this guys boss to tell him that this person needs to get his facts straight. I have accident reports over the past 4 years and these reports show that they were caused by drivers error.
I think the best place for cafe vans is around Telford, there are dozens and all very good. Probably the one at the motorway services is the easiest to get to and normally has 3 members of staff behind the counter.
I avoid the Salmonella factories down the A1 like the plague, it seems as though they all try to copy the worst ones.

well if thats the only excuse they can come up with then they better shut the layby as it will still get used even without a snack van in it

Would it not be prudent to set up one of them online petition thingys, and get people to sign it,and present it to the local authority?
Safety in numbers,and all that.
Ken.
Only if I was starving, how do they go to the bog and then wash their hands…

Why do snack vans always seem to close and go home between 14.30 and 15.00 - just as I’m getting peckish ?
Not allowed to serve past that time.
I use one every now and then on the A6 near Garstang.
must be allowed to serve after that time , as there are/or used to be , a few 24 hrs vans around.
If memory serves me right there was one just above Worksop roundabout on AI open 24 /7 364 days a year.

Most I have spoken to about this have said that there is not enough business after the luchtime to carry on

There were the 2 cabins opposite each other just south of the 50 limit at Elkesley but I notice one has closed down. The other was at 5 lane ends near Worksop till he had a fire Now he owns the Quernow Cafe near Leeming
the snack van on the A460 at featherstone is also favoured by VOSA,so best not park there too long, pity, too close to M6 diesel, and the old test station.

I would have thought parking for a longish time would have been a plus point as far as VOSA are concerned.

I second that Loggo, there’s never anywhere for a cup of tea or whatever at 4pm
