I can understand smoking in the workplace is illegal, but surely when you are on break or rest, the cab is no longer a work place. Is smoking allowed then?

NO !

I’m an Ex Smoker (absolutely hate it now) I drive one wagon 99% of the time, with all my kit in, bedding, pillows, coats, spare clothes, towel, tea towel (lots of fabric).

I have to night out once or twice a week but they sometimes take my tractor for the night trunk, I hav’nt got a problem with that, except a couple of weeks ago one of the Trunkey Monkeys decided that it was a good idea to have a ■■■ in the cab, when I got in the next morning-it Reeked of his Stinking Cancer Causing Mess, when I pulled him on it, he started Bleating on about ‘Being Persecuted’
PERSECUTED ! SMERSECUTED ! BOLOX !
I’m the one who’s being put at Risk, he can stop anywhere & coat his lungs with tar if he likes, I have no choice but to drive the wagon after he’s contaminated it with his Fowl Stinking Stink.

If he does it again, I’ll be taking it further & if he looses his 30,000 pound a year job, so be it. Take your Poxy Cigarettes &
Poke 'em where the sun don’t shine.

Snitch, nothing worse than ex smoker acting like this, you should be at least a little understanding that smoking is an easy addiction for some to break and near impossible, i bet when you stopped smoking you could still smoke in the cab previous so you probably aint had this problem, the way i see it if you smoke you smoke as long you aint blowing it in my face if im a non smoker then crack on pal, costing a man his living just coz you dont like it is to much an extreme for me, id snap your jaw if you got me sacked

Snap away Pal, it’s the law now, so you’ll go down for ABH as well as loose your job. Lol.

ok then, id snap your jaw with a balaclava on then, lets see your law prosecute me then

Best post of the year lar!!! lol

Although its inconsiderate to smoke in another persons truck, I find ex smokers to be the most excitable as they are just jealous hypocrites to be fair…

How do our forum ex smokers feel about vaping in someone elses truck, is this acceptable…

No offence intended so put your balaclavas away

I agree with you Dave, us ex smokers are the worst for not liking it, although I disagree with total non smoking pubs, worst thing to happen to the drinks industry was the smoking ban, why not have separate bars like they used to have.

Don’t think I’ve got a problem with Vaping, said’ Night Trunker was Vaping during the summer & I didn’t even notice.

So no need to Snap my Jaw, with a Balaclava on !!!
Anyway ! How would I get the Balaclava off, if you snapped my jaw whilst I was wearing it ? (Perhaps they’d cut it off, so it wasn’t too painful)

Best thing I ever did was give up the ■■■■. Funny, smoked on & off for decades then just flipped a switch on the back of being ill & resenting paying Philip Morris & his ilk my hard earned for something that ain’t even that good or fun. Never smoked a “Cigarette” since. That was a few years ago. Just too easy to pound the Bejeesus out of them when you’re driving. I feel sorry for blokes I pass smoking in artics, yes, yes, F me you don’t need my pity…

I still smoke, just recreationally when i’m relaxing on my own. There what £10 per pack now? You’ve nailed ten by 04:00 off the back of an 03:30 start along with intravenous coffee drip, not good. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

I don’t care if others smoke. I just don’t care.

They can’t get enough arses to drive the wagons anyway so I don’t think they’re gonna be that arsed if you like a cheeky one whilst pounding down the road.

seth 70:
I only smoke on the vinegar stroke

10 points.

[zb] vile. Scruffy turds that flick ■■■ ash on their kids head while pushing the push chair. If I ever decide I want to have [zb] skin, [zb] teeth, [zb] body odour, [zb] breath, and [zb] health, I’ll join the club, but until that time I’ll still question y they do it.

Sounds like someone could do with taking up smoking… Jesus have a lie down dude.

Dipper_Dave:

tell you what would be a good idea if they set up a hotline where you sent in vids of folk throwin down ■■■ butts or other petty offences . itd soon be snowed under with vids , but once they got the staff to handle it all, itd pay for itself in fine revenue in no time.

Sorry but I disagree, theres a culture of complainers emerging already in today’s society and the last thing I want is to worry about habitual moaners trying to justify their excistence by grassing up every minor non event to further stroke their self righteous self image.

That said I do get annoyed when I see a BMW / Audi driver chuck a crisp packet out the window but if I was really upset I would deal with it myself by running them off the road and killing them. They survive because I realise that some one is employed to pick this crap up, not to mention the hassle it is to dispose of bodies these days.

Excellent.

Juddian:
Don’t know about prosecuted but i know a bloke who lost a £38k 40 hour max week pukka job for the sake of a ciggie at the wheel.

Jesus, that’s a big time wounder.

We got rid of two this month for the same reason, both seen by two different office bods, one was ours a recent starter, one was agency who was instantly relieved of duties and told no longer required. Our place are never on your back so it was such a stupid waste of a steady job earning good money, if they were that desperate they could have parked up for 5 minutes and had one outside the truck.

This is how i’d go if Knew they were ■■■■ about it. Any man worth his salt can smoke in a cab & the next man will be none the wiser, unless the next man is Mary Poppins. Just park up for 5 & have a cheeky one in a lay by. Be good for you to cut down anyway nes pa?

Never heard of anyone getting ill or died from smelling cig smoke.

Its why smoking was banned in enclosed spaces, inc working areas,in the first place :unamused:

He means the smell, not the smoke.

chester:
If it wasn’t for the smokers then I wouldn’t be earning easy cash on the agency.

It’s a legal requirement to display a no smoking sign in a workplace ie cab.
I’ve refused to drive 4 units this year for not conforming to the basic of legal regulations, and the agency even pay me, it’s bonkers. A 20p sticker could save these cowboys a fortune.
It’s a good job these company’s bring agency drivers like me in once in a while to point out where the regular employed workforce aren’t up to speed on current regulations.
Chuffin hell if it weren’t for me the knights of old would be sleeping on a scaffold plank across the seats.

Yet these knights of old will still stand tall and puff out their chests and remember the good ol days. :unamused: Mugs

You do sound a bit up yerself. Jus’ Sayin’… But then i’d say you like a bit of back & forth don’t you Chester…

old 67:
Can anyone explain why most none smokers,in my experience, have by and large tolerated smokers with only the odd moan, but without exception, again in my experience,ex smokers are fanatical about it.? Some I know even believe smokers should be shot at dawn !! Seems very odd and two faced to me,like born again religious folk.
Regards. John.

Cuz they’re ■■■■■■ they smoked for so long…

Splendid, here’s a virtual pint from me.

There is a bit too much righteous frothing at the mouth in this thread to be honest. If your bedding is in the cab, it’s your cab, if you don’t want the other driver smoking in the cab then fair enough.

If it was me, you wouldn’t even know as i’d have the window all the way down & actually be blowing the smoke out the window & holding the ■■■ end near the window as i’m smart see then when i’d finished the shift, i’d check there was no ash in the cab & behind the drivers seat. These “thick” blokes are smoking with the window shut see or mostly shut.

If you can smell it after that then i’d check your Johnson is still there & you haven’t been magicked in to a Woman. Jus’ Sayin’

I find it very interesting that people are so passionate about this subject and yet willingly put up with sleeping in a vehicle that could have been the habitat of a fleabag who wet the bed at some point and sweated profusely when asleep. Nowt so queer as folk!

I’ve had my wagon from Birth, (Easter 2013) & apart from when I’m on holiday,as far as I know I’m the only one who has slept in it.

But then again you never know, perhaps they Smoke & ■■■■■■■■■■ at the same time ? getting it all over the steering wheel-(YUK-Smokey Sticky Steering Wheel)

Nowt so queer as folk !

if your going to watch ■■■■ whilst driving down the road, then wear a blob, makes no diff which way it goes then…

A blob? Is that some knida ■■■ swing?

Strangely company cars were also explicitly mentioned as not being a workplace.

Thats only company cars that have one driver and not pool cars. The very same wording is what allows Harry Monk to legally smoke in his truck.

Thank GOD. Could you imagine the carrion birds at the side of the 25 if H couldn’t smoke in his wagon?

Banning smoking in pubs was something the last government got right. I do like the fact I can sit in an environment with friends having a drink without sitting in a chimney stack.

Yes. Except all the smoke you avoided inhaling inside still gets in your system as you leave and run the gauntlet of all the smokers standing right at the doorway and all puffing away.

THAT’S :smiling_imp: the trigger, that’s the thing they say when I really want to rip their ■■■■■■ heads off after I have discovered a ■■■■ has been smoking in my motor…‘‘well I had the window open’’ :smiling_imp:
They/you don’t get it YOU can’t smell it because you are a smoker :bulb: . I can because I am not :bulb: and how do you try and get the stink off the steering wheel that goes on to my hands, does having the window sort that as well? Call me a fanny, Mary Poppins or whatever the hell you want, couldn’t, give a flying one, but it’s a bit like drivers that cut in on me, smokers in my motor aka my home, make me realize I seriously have anger management issues. Johnson still intact ta.
and…Breathe out

Yep I’m a vaping ex smoker myself and the smell of it turns my stomache now, although I do have the odd sneaky proper puff when ■■■■■■ (even a ciggy sometimes as well). Seeing someones yellow fingers is just as vile to me though.

Seperate bars (bit like the old fashioned snugs) would be good, might be enough to get me puffing the proper weed again. (by proper weed I mean tabacco not weed as in ganja, which i also puff a bit now and again).
