Smoking in trucks

Adam_Mc:
And I didn’t join anything…when this smoking ban came in I was too young to drink in pubs and so on.

That explains a lot then, just some kid.

Harry Monk:
I am allowed to smoke in my cab, and what’s more I have a letter from Swale Borough Council’s Chief Environmental Health Officer confirming that I am allowed to smoke in my cab, so you go ahead and take as many photos of me as you want. Alternatively, you might consider “getting a life”.

Well said that man

So Adam_Mc I think the research is very relevant to you as it appears to be aimed at ‘children’ and implementing a strict ‘no smoking policy’ in the home environment of American dwelling’s

After skimming through the results from your quoted research I take it you now walk about with a respirator and face mask at all times because it would seem you are vulnerable to thirdhand smoke 24/7 :unamused: :unamused:

I’m very puzzled as to you equating a high ■■■ drive to excessive ■■■■■■■■■■■■  In my experience excessive ■■■■■■■■■■■■ usually occurs post puberty and drops off when the person matures and has developed the skills to form happy, loving and mutually satisfying ■■■■■■ relationalships with a partner of the opposite or same ■■■, depending on your orientation. Obessive and excessive ■■■■■■■■■■■■ is an indication of immaturity and under-developed social skills, especially in the relationship department   :exclamation:

You say you are only sticking up for yourself but you certainly don’t like being criticised in any kind of way, constructive or otherwise :unamused: :unamused:
Also you accuse me of making arrogant post’s   Please show me the evidence by quoting my post’s that illustrate my arrogance  Is it because I stick up for my self and my opinions with a bit more life experience, knowledge and intellect that exposes your immaturity and inability to respond in a reasoned manner so accusing me of being arrogant and equating smoking in a truck to child abuse and obsessive/excessive ■■■■■■■■■■■■ highlights your immaturity even more.

Also IIRC you have said in the past you always aspired to drive a truck for Sainsbury’s,  Well it appears you have already attained your aspirational goal
Well big congrats to you Adam_Mc but what a very low aspiration goal you had :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
If that was as high as you wanted to go and youv’e already reached it at such a tender age I feel very sorry for you because I’m sure you are a planners dream they will be able to get you to do anything they want and I feel sure they do :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

IMHO apsiring to drive a Sainsbury’s truck is the equivalent of the street sweeper aspiring to get on one of the bin wagons. No offence meant to any street sweeper’s, bin wagon driver’s or other Sainsbury’s drivers  I know it can be a good number as I worked out of Rotherham in the 90’s when Exell had the Sainsbury contract, but it wasn’t something I aspired too, it was a job and the shifts fitted with my aspirations to become the manager of a Criminal Justice Team in West Yorks; and attending Leeds Uni; as a mature student. Note that word Adam_Mc, MATURE it is the opposite to the one I attribute to you.

Well there yer go mate arrogancy at it’s best :unamused: :unamused:

See you in the sticky cab :unamused: :unamused:

Please show me some kind of evidence that proves that the inhalation of the odour of tobacco is harmful

Well a very simple search on the internet and this was the first thing that turned up… http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/123/1/e74 …I couldn’t be bothered to read it all, but the general gist is smoke “odour” is referred to as ‘thirdhand smoke’ and can be harmful. And really its a simple reason…

Odour is caused by molecules that settle on a surface and are then disturbed and tossed back into the air for people to breathe. The air and smoke is made up of molecules which have a weight and this weight causes some of the smoke to settle into fabrics or onto surfaces, hence the odour. All you’ve got to do is go and hit a fabric seat (office chairs are generally best) and watch the crap that comes off of them.

I feel sure the ‘agency’ or is it agencie’s you are signed up with provide you with loads of work but maybe that work is all the shifts that don’t coincide with anyone else that you can find some kind of silly fault with    Think about it

I find fault with everything…I’m that kind of guy.

Get a life mate, find something else to get wound up about :unamused: :unamused:

I’m not that wound up with you, in fact, when I read one of your arrogant posts I roll my eyes and simply say to myself “Oh joy, another [zb]”…but thats about as annoyed as I get. So perhaps you should leave the ■■■■■■■■■■■■ to me instead of yourself getting off on thinking im fuming or something.

BTW your posts have provided me with the most laughs I have had for a long time   Well thats along with a few others who shall remain nameless :open_mouth:

Lets face it…you fancy me and yes, I’m funny and awesome

Adam_Mc:
And whilst you haven’t seen any evidence that ‘odour’ can harm someones health…you will be breathing in nasty chemicals still, thats how odours are formed, but the amount is so tiny it’d be almost nothing physically…but have you considered the mental aspect of it?

Do you think that a job which requires you to spend the bulk of your working day in a thick soup of traffic fumes or visiting industrial premises is possibly the wrong choice for someone as sensitive as you?

GO DAVE! GO DAVE! GO DAVE!

davepenn54:
So Adam_Mc I think the research is very relevant to you as it appears to be aimed at ‘children’ and implementing a strict ‘no smoking policy’ in the home environment of American dwelling’s

Haha…whilst I’m not knocking you’re comical prowess, that was crap! And just because the report was aimed at american households and the effect ‘thirdhand’ smoke has on children…what difference does that make? Children aren’t magical creatures you know. Just because you and I are adults it doesn’t mean we’re not able to suffer the same consequences. In fact, when I entered my search query, the first result was a doctors forum discussing the situation in general but focusing mainly on people with skin conditions, whereby the irritants in smoke odour can aggravate skin conditions…and lets face it, truckers aren’t the healthiest of people anyway!

After skimming through the results from your quoted research I take it you now walk about with a respirator and face mask at all times because it would seem you are vulnerable to thirdhand smoke 24/7 :unamused: :unamused:

Of course I won’t be walking around wearing a mask. I never said I’m vulnerable to ‘thirdhand smoke’…I said that I hated the smell, but you told me that you’d never come across any evidence that health issues exist because of the smell…so I proved you wrong, but I know you’ll refuse to admit that. And that report was just one example of a huge amount of results I found…I could have posted all of the results but again, you’d refuse to believe any of them anyway, so there’s no point, and it’d be to exhaustive of the situation.

In your experience eh?..so you’re either very immature yourself or just love to surround yourself by immature people. But just because that’s your experience, doesn’t mean that your knowledge is completely correct. I’m in a relationship, a very good one and when I do see my partner (or ladyfriend as I call her) we usually have ■■■ about 5 or 6 times, on a thursday evening/friday morning…but there lies the problem. Due to work and her being in college, we have a clash of hours and therefore I’m unable to see her often, so sometimes I get myself off, like any normal guy would do if they’re ■■■■■. That doesn’t make me immature though. Also…where did I say I do it all the time? I merely used ■■■■■■■■■■■■ as an example of something I knew you wouldn’t like me doing if you had to drive the truck right after me.

Just because you’re too past it to have ■■■ anymore, don’t label me immature because I’m young enough to still enjoy using my ■■■■■.

You say you are only sticking up for yourself but you certainly don’t like being criticised in any kind of way, constructive or otherwise :unamused: :unamused:

That’s not true…I’ve said on loads of posts that I ‘stand’ to be corrected. But this isn’t one of those posts. We’re talking about something which IS illegal. Except trampers who’s vehicles aren’t used by any other person, of which I said I didn’t care about, such as Harry Monk.

Also you accuse me of making arrogant post’s   Please show me the evidence by quoting my post’s that illustrate my arrogance

I’m not going to quote all of your arrogant posts, but there are many! Likewise though, there are loads of posts from you that aren’t arrogant. You keep mentioning about people ‘who haven’t made it in this industry’ because they’ve been forced out by people ‘with a little more experience’ and blah blah blah…that comment obviously refers to you and is very self indulgent…which is arrogant. Also the whole “I’ve smoked since nineteen five and I don’t intend to stop now”. Good for you, but why did you have to make a point by telling everyone that?..because you’re arrogant. And also you changed your signature to contain “Smoke Forever”…again, arrogant. Also you know its illegal for you to smoke in your cab, as you’ve said you’re not the sole user, but the big definition of arrogance is someone who thinks they’re above everyone else…you seem to think the law shouldn’t apply to you and you’re happy to go and ■■■■ off the next driver…well there you go!

Aso IIRC you have said in past you always aspired to drive a truck for Sainsbury’s,  Well it appears you have already attained your aspirational goal
Well big congrats to you Adam_Mc but what a very low aspiration goal you had :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

You’re the second person to pick up on this whilst “nit picking”, but like the person before you, you’re also very stupid with it! DRIVING wise I aspire to drive for Sainsbury’s, true…but if you’d bothered to quote all of my previous post on this, it’s not going to be my career! The reason I want to drive for Sainsbury’s is because for a 48hr week they pay 36k a year basic salary…soon going up to £37.5k - £38k. Currently that works out at 2K a month take home…which will fund my training to become an airline pilot, which is what I wan’t to do for a career! You used bin driving to fund yourself to becoming a manager of the Criminal Justice Team whilst studying at Leeds Uni…I wan’t to use Sainsbury’s to fund my flying, same principles!

But out of curiosity…what does IIRC mean?

Well perhaps if you surrounded yourself with a broader range of people you’d be able to have a better argument for this attributed word…but MATURE for you only applies to your age, not your arrogant views!

Well there yer go mate arrogancy at it’s best :unamused: :unamused:

I would say arrogant and leave it at that…far from its best.

See you in the sticky cab :unamused: :unamused:

I doubt it…You’ll be too busy weaving all over the road whilst you roll up. You won’t notice me.

I can understand you don’t want to admit that I’m right because you’re too arrogant and so on, but the fact that you’ve ran out of decent things to say and have started to launch personal attacks on me just speaks volumes. As (I think) one of the Mods has said, attack the post, not the poster…but since you’re to arrogant to step down, you have to try and pick on me instead, very mature of you

Not at all Harry…I happen to like the smell of diesel and petrol. Just to clarify…I didn’t say I was concerned about the health risks, I said I hate the smell of ■■■ smoke. But I said odour can have health risks and I was asked to produce some evidence.

   Aye up , Mr. McCummum, I give up you win I’m just too arrogant to discuss this subject any further with you

Well for the time being anyway
I’m preparing a meal for 15 people tonight and that is more important to me :exclamation: :exclamation: BTW did I mention I was also a qualified Chef   Another one of my aspirational goals, achieved :exclamation: :exclamation:

I haven’t changed my sig; just added ‘Smoke Forever’ to a couple of my post’s within this thread.

Well I admit I admire your cooking abilities…I haven’t died yet so my cooking can’t be too bad but I can’t be bothered to experiment in the kitchen yet because mine is so tiny…But nonetheless, when I move out, because I’m so picky, my next house will have a bigger kitchen…with a decent hob!

But thank you, I will stay safe down the aisles…they put signs up now to warn of slippery surfaces
