i drive the same unit every day, clean it, polish it inside 2 times a day, have the sun roof open unless raining and have air fresheners in it. i must be doing something right, as the night driver has the choice of9 units to take but he takes mine, he says its because its the tidiest and he can tell its smoked in but it doesnt smell like an ashtray.

Ok, I will use Friday as an example, 1 load to Worksop, then upto prudhoe to collect a load, it’s not ready and have a 3 hour wait, so I clean cab out, rub over dash and clean windows. Drive back to the yard which is 2 and a half hours away and give cab a going over again after I have tipped and am ready to go home. I will give it a clean any chance I get really, I don’t like sleepin duri g the day as I wake up feeling worse than before I slept, so just keep the cab clean to pass the time. Maybe a bit OTT I know but it stops ■■■ ash getting everywhere and keeps it tidy

I’m an ex smoker the worse kind I know, but I thought you could only smoke in a vehicle if you can guarantee no one will get in the cab during your shift, due to breakdowns illness etc etc this is impossible. Also i’m sure I read somewhere it is an offense for both drivers and company not to display the no smoking sign in the cab. fine I think of 150 to 250
could be wrong as not an expert in this field
I do but I own the truck so no one to tell me not too. If you keep the window open, don’t use the ashtray and clean up from time to time, no big deal.
I had a driver once who used to do Scottish trunks for me, smoked like a chimney with the window shut and used the ashtray. Looked in his cab one day and the XF ashtray which is big as i’m sure you know was overflowing with ■■■ ends and the cab stank of smoke.
Luckily he left not long after that.
I recently worked for an Irish shipowner who was very anti smokin & drinkin (or for that matter anything that involved spending money, tight git !!).After a few cross words one time he sent me a text msg stating that smoking was now banned throughout the ship. I replied with words to the effect that he could go and do one. Next time he paid us a visit I must have got through a weeks supply in one day, he never said a word. And just as well 
but was my throat sore the next day!!
I thought that the no smoking ban said something to the effect, that no smoking is allowed in the work place, and that included a mobile one, whether it had a sleeper cab, whether no one else ever drove it, it was and is, a mobile place of work.
There was a van driver last week who went to court, and was fined £400 just for doing that, and the judge said that it was a mobile work place, ie any vehicle used in conjunction with work, and i see that a tractor unit, or rigid with a sleeper cab, fridge, beds,tv, or whatever does not let you off the hook…that was my view on the smoking ban.
However, i do smoke, i do smoke in the truck, whether parked up or stationary, and knowing that i am driving someone elses vehicle…but i do open the window…some moan…some dont…but so far, i havnt been reported…HARRY…you could make a fortune by selling copies of your exemption certificate, and live your dream life in the bahamas

It does my bloody nut in big style if some incosiderate 2at smokes in my motor if I am on hols or whatever, especially if they come back with “Well I left the window open” 
it still stinks afterwards for days, window open or not, it,s like saying " I ■■■■■■ in your swimming pool but just in one corner" I normally make a pact with them before I go away " You don,t stink my motor and all my kit out and I won,t kick your ignorant head in" harsh and disproportional I know but that,s how it gets me , so I would report you after a quiet discussion mate no mistake and I,d think nowt about it. Enough for now, off for my next anger management session 
Must admit i have never smoked and people smoking in my truck while im on hols does my nut my philosophy is you smoke in my truck i’ll ■■■■ in yours harsh but fair
as an agency driver you never know if smokers truck or not although some it is obvious ! anyhow I’ve bought one of those electronic ciggies no smell and gives you a vapour with nicotine hit so similar to a ■■■ although not completly like one but does the trick for me bonus no smell and saving money on cigs too

Used to carry a bot of perfume round with me so if the guys had been smoking in the vehicles I would then just spray perfume on the seats to try to remove some of the smell
1 of the drivers was a chain smoker with the windows closed so was awful ( smoked cigs from abroad which were worse ) & no he didnt like climbing in after me we did speak about it 1 day in yard I said you dont smoke then I wont squirt simple then smoking ban came in boss said he would sack anyone caught smoking in the vehicles
