The foreign boys get away with it week after week and we have to sit there and deal with it. What I want to know is why do people assume they have the right to tell us what we should and shouldn’t do in the cabs of our vehicles… I mean who died and made them god■■?
What concerns me about this incident is quite simply that this council jobsworth actually wrote to your employer because of a complaint received from a member of the public.
Do the State Nanny Police now prosecute based upon the unsubstantiated word of one individual who didnt even produce any proof of Harrys naughtiness?
My reply would have been far less diplomatic to the point whereby they would have been told to bugger off until such time as said member of the public can come up with some evidence.
one of our agency guys got the sack because a member of the public complained to our head office about him smoking- thing was it was his word against the member of public and the daft bam admitted to it, im no a smoker myself and im lucky the night guy i share the unit with isnt either but this grassing people in , which may result in them getting the sack makes me so mad

As it happens, just after the ban came in, the office said they’d received a letter from Swale Council similar to yours Harry,but apparently not identifying the vehicle. We were all given a please-don’t-do-it ‘warning’ .

i am off the trucks at the present.i always smoked in the truck,i dont care what the law says,we are not do anything wrong.
i was driving an irish truck so theres no prob in the uk,but when i returned to ireland,
i still smoked and we have this element of grass over there as well.
i was never reported,but i know what my old boss would tell them,if i repeated it,i would be barred off this forum

People really grip my zb! Where does this lower form of life (the complainent) get off? Did he find the holocaust a mildly amusing aside? Was the tsunami a mildly entertaining water based thriller?
This person, who shall now be referred to as zbhead, was fully prepared for someone to lose their job over smoking a poxy ■■■ whilst on their own, earning a living when potentially there are no other jobs to get should they lose this one.
I volunteer to go to zbhead’s house and tail him for 24 hours and point out every little thing he does wrong or when he breaks nonsensical rules just to make his life bearable and easier. When he does this he will be slapped with a ruler.
Did I point out that this ruler is in fact a metre stick and will be used having taken a run up of 10 yards approx.
If I am selected for this important task I will post photos to be submitted both on here and forwarded to the council officer in charge of making everybodies life awkward.

great stuff harry, im now a non smoker and proud of it but i agree that people like yourselves should be able to smoke in their cab, most people have the courtesy to ask if they can, i dont let people in my cab as its now my home and dont want it to smell of ciggies, but smokers accept it and are not put out so to speak

I don’t agree; your comments are pretty much those of most reasonably-minded people in this country, be they smokers or not.
I smoke; I have done so for 35 years, I am fully aware that it may shorten my life and eventually kill me, but it’s still my choice to do so. I would not dream, though, of lighting up in your house, truck or car without your prior invitation; nor would anyone else with any manners.
One thing I’ve noticed with the “antis” though, and not just regarding smoking; there is no middle ground whatsoever for them, it’s 100% what they want or nothing. Sadly there arer too many nerds like that getting into positions of power and influence. Time for a PC purge, methinks.

I disagree with you mat… I wont smoke in anyones house, let alone car, truck or anywhere else people like yourself might be. I dont smoke in my own house, I would rather go outside and freeze my nadgers off than be impolite.

Since I am now a non smoker. I cannot use your sample letter anywhere but will pass it on to others. I am against all the snoops and non laws that are being enforced by wannabe enforcers.
