Smokey FH12

OK First post here so Hello everyone.

I am running a 2001 FH12 420 at the moment and have a slight problem with it.

It seems to be getting too much fuel at tickover, If you leave it idling when you pull off it fills the place with Blue/white smoke. Also when on the move on nearly every gear change if puffs out a large amount of black smoke when you pop the clutch. Thing is it is running fine otherwise not burning oil or anything and plenty of pulling power. Also as said it puts out a large puff of black smoke when you pop the clutch on gearchange but no matter how much of a pull it’s under it doesn’t put out smoke when pulling.

Anyone come across this problem with one of these??

If they’re common rail fuel sysyems it sounds like an injector dribbling fuel, they all need pressure testing to identify the culprit(s).

We just had a similar problem with a 2002 fh12, we had two injectors go down, they are £350 each ish,we also had an injector sleeve go, you can tell if a sleeve has gone, poor fuel and water tank smells like turps, at a million kms, they tend to, a do turbos, b injectors and sleeve, also fuel pump and pressure valves for the fuel system, apart from that they are good.i rerally tried to shop around for cheap injectors , but to be honest ya might aswell just get them from vovlo in the end, what with possible exchange servisability on your old uns.take injectors out and get em checked

Ok Thanks for that guys
