Smokey and the (Argos) Bandit

Looks like Argos 2 man crews get a car and truck for the time being to avoid sharing the cab…

swindonadvertiser.co.uk/new … -concerns/

…but still leaves questions when they are lifting out a sofa together…3 seaters only perhaps.

I’ll let you know how it works in the morning, having a bed delivered. Ordered it weeks ago and assumed it would be postponed but got a text earlier saying it would be here between 7 and 9 in the morning.

Non-essential good, park the whingers up, job done !!!

Well said.
You might be isolated at home following orders.
So you go into eBay Amazon argos etc order stuff nice and safe from.home.
But people need to realise the stuff you order gets picked and delivered people .
Doesn’t get there by robot.
And am sure the vast majority of workers at these places would rather be at home.

It sounds like they’ve found the thickest drivers mate esp when they come out with things like:

If one member of the two-man team were in a hire car, they might not be able to guide a reversing LGV as was usual practice.

…and…

I don’t even know what a face mask looks like

Ok so what exactly is the drivers mate supposed to be doing apart from following the truck? Or does the stress of driving the car mean they cant park up, get out and assist.

As for facemasks, they obviously are too mentally challenged to watch anything more than The Only Way is Essex (accidently found out that still exists… :open_mouth: ).

Not too sure how you deliver a sofa without taking it indoors as I’d struggle to move one on my own. Have done that job as a two man crew and it was seriously hard graft. Guess they’ll find a way…or not.

Im still buying car parts from Japanese auctions but as im still working as im a ‘key worker’ I wont worry about the DHL man. This weekend one of my packages on the tracker showed it leaving Osaka Friday afternoon, stops in Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Leipzig and now in East Midlands so a few paws have touched it. Will have to spray the box when it gets here

Bed delivered this morning, basically a knock and run. 2 of them, one in a 7.5t one in a car. Doorstep delivery only so dumped it on the front step (was happy with that as I could cut the plastic cover off out there before bringing it in. I suppose being at each end of a single bed is 6ft apart but they said they are dragging dishwashers and washing machines up flights of stairs anyway.
Was a bit like knock and run when I was a kid but they left a bed instead of a burning paper bag of dog muck

I found out today that the guidance given by Public Health England states that “Where possible you must work 2 meters apart”

So basically thats a get out of jail card for all the employers that have workers working in close proximity.

Well my missus ordered a new washing machine for a few of us to use on the campsite from AO about three weeks ago, out of stock then, came back in stock last Friday and delivered 9am Sat.
Delivered by a Self employed team, father and son who live at same address , their own van is loaded by themselves from a pile of stock left for them on a loading bay overnight.
He reckoned it was as good as it could be under the circumstances, so they are working , curb side deliveries only.
He dis say others were not like them and were basically working as otherwise it would be no money or handout as they were all Subbies, so were stuck in a cab together like it or not. And some were voluntarily fitting machines in kitchens for folk!

We needed the washer as the local laundrette has shut and the one in the new house ain’t ready to be used yet …due to no bloody power being in for another 6 weeks.

Was I wrong to accept it being delivered?
