Smoke alarms in sleeper cabs

Anyone else driving overnights without one? Had a near miss last week in a brand new p280 scania after leaving a kettle plugged in to 24v. Kettle had an on off switch and for the last year I’ve used it and packed it away but fell asleep this time. Six hours later I woke up in a smoke filled cab and a flaming kettle melting into the interior. I know it’s partly my own fault so be warned and check your own motors! Save you jumping out in the boxer shorts and fire fighting with bottled water!!! No extinguisher either… Kind regards from a former member of the “won’t happen to me brigade”. Ps the boss is billing me for the damage!!!

Can anybody smell something?

PARTLY??

No, it’s 100% your fault :unamused:

When I had a permanent truck, it had a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm fitted, I’ve never drove a truck yet without a fire extinguisher.

Now I’m agency, I drive what they give me and have slept in many without a smoke alarm

I never bothered with all these “home comforts” even on the continent. For reasons like this, amongst others.

Waste of money in my book.
