I heard today that Smith’s of Bury is shutting down due to retirement. Fleet being auctioned off.
They have been going well over a hundred years, it’s a shame

Shame that , I remember them when I was a kid and they did the Haulage for Walmsleys paper mill engineers in Bury and Bolton along with George Murray’s when I use to go with my Dad , they were called Fred Smiths those days , both firms lorries were always well turned out , got the bug for the job and retired this week , will miss it but not the getting up at stupid o clock on a Cold Winters morning.
Even the Gaffers Bentley is up for auction
