Got a first time delivery to the above at 6am Monday morning. Been looking at street view and cannot see anywhere that trucks can possibly unload.
Anyone got any local info on it? Delivery is for W Newnes, probably Christmas trees.
Cheers.
I assume you’re referring to the wholesale market which is no longer at Smithfield, the wholesale market at Smithfield was demolished some time ago and according to this page W Newnes are now at “Unit 55 Birmingham Wholesale Market, Nobel Way, Birmingham B6 7AU”
It might be worth giving them a ring before you get to Birmingham.
That might make a bit of sense as I have 2 deliveries. One to to Newnes at the so called Smithfield and one to the address that you’ve already found. I think I might try a phone call now!!!
No answer, but I see they have a stall at the Birmingham Indoor Market, Pershore Street which ties in with the postcode that I have for the first drop.
That’s the old market which is gone now.
Go to the Hub, the new market, at the address tachograph posted.
It’s near Villas ground
Thanks, I’m going to have to check my notes tomorrow when I go in. Beginning to wonder whether its just one drop to the new hub. That is the address for the second drop that I was given.
The thing is the first drop’s postcode is showing Birmingham Indoor Market where Newnes have an outlet. I’m guessing that’s close to where Smithfields used to be.
Pershore Street was the address of the entrance to the old market.
Dropped pin
Near Birmingham B5 6UL

You won’t get any answer on the phone today they work market hours. Ring on your way down but my money would be on a full hit to the Hub

The indoor market is just up the road from where the old wholesale market was but I doubt that it would be open to traders at 06:00, I don’t think it opens to the public until 09:00 so I can’t see there being anyone there at 06:00.
I’d give them a ring when you’re on your way there as billybigrig said.
Just spoke to a (rare) helpful guy at our office!! He reckons the first one is a loading bay on Upper Dean Street by the side of Spar.
Anyway I’m not gonna lose any sleep over it. As you say I’ll make a call early Monday morning.
Thanks to you both.
