Just had a quick look on the jobsearch direct website to find that Smart Recruitment are advertising 45 HGV driving jobs within 20 miles of Exeter. What’s the odds on any of these jobs actually existing?
Backline have jobs going. Out at Crealy barton or whatever it’s called.
I want saturday work but don;t think their payment system will let me be self employed and pay my own tax so think I’ve ■■■■ out there.
Hello J_K not sure of any local agencies that let you be self employed. The one I drive for quite regularly certainly doesn’t, even though I am self employed in my regular job.
I wasn’t looking for a job really as I already have a building job weekdays and do driving weekends when I have enough hours left. I just like to check out the jobs pages on a regular basis incase something interesting pops up. I may be looking soon though if this bloody bad back doesn’t clear off.

…I guess this would be Nine guys are on holiday next week from some depot like Langdons, Bridgewater - that’s 5 shifts x 9 drivers = 45 shifts to cover.
I’m exactly the same dreamingofoz.
Who do you get work through?
I haven’t booked a shift yet
similar advert for 20 in evercreech my guess is that they are trying to fill their books with names for cover for summer holidays with local firms and these jobs dont exsist at the moment I might be wrong!

Smart are doing the same here in Staffordshire. They have exactly the same job advertised in multiple locations, even in small towns and villages where no haulier exists. The Best Connection and Ocean City recruitment agencies are doing exactly the same thing.
As with all agencies, believe them at your peril. Unless it is a specific vacancy for a guaranteed long term placement, then don’t waste your time with idiots like these.
It’s the phone call “I’m ringing to check your availability for work” that gets me.
Best to say “If you don’t give me work by this Thursday, for anything next week - I’ll take the flat-out booking from my usual agency that trumps yours. I don’t care if “yours” is a “superior hourly rate”, so don’t think I’ll drop what I’m already booked for to chase the extra money. See You Next Thursday.”
Pertemps and Smart are advertising ‘temporary’ class C work around Bridgwater and Exeter. Describe it nicely with CPC training, uniform, PPE etc all supplied…turns out its bin wagons and recycling collections from domestic!

I’d do that for a decent hourly rate, and a shiny new bomber jacket!

…I’d better be on overtime after one hour then.
Got PM thanks.
I reckon a bin wagon would be a fairly easy crack. Needs more money for the smell though.
