That fire could’ve been contained to just 2 vehicles with very little threat to anyone’s safety
If this depot is like other Sainsburys DCs where they have the lock on dock, keys would be hanging on a chain at rear of vehicle (unless already pulled up to hang the keys on the bay door) so probably not wise to go down a dead end near a burning vehicle to get keys that may not even be there, and if you did want to play the hero you would get the tin tac for not following company procedure.

Maybe, but there would have been some threat to safety, however little, whereas the vehicles will all be insured against fire. It might be different for me as an OO to try to get my truck out of the way because of the operational difficulties if my truck went up in flames but nobody who works at Sainsbury’s gets paid enough to perform amateur heroics. As has been said, they’d be more likely to get the sack than a pat on the back and a drink for their trouble so why would they?
That’s my trouble, I’ve got a small company mentality. The only big firm I’ve worked for is maritime, and that didn’t last lol

Agree with this. I work for a small family business and if I just let the lorry burn, I’d be jeopardising my job, mortgage etc so sorry if the health and safety clipboard carriers are offended, but I’ll weigh the risks up myself thank you.
We had a fire in the council yard next to coltons one Saturday last year. 6 of us had 18 lorries in the street in less than 5 mins. There would’ve been a lot of blokes looking for new jobs had we let them burn. Luckily all that happened was a fence melted
I’ll tell if a driver used his intuitive and grab keys from the office and saved some of those trucks it’s either gona go 2 ways, sacked or hero. And it’s 50/50 it’s all down to how much eh a fanny the manager is!
Fire alarm at my depot, I was just on the cusp of coming of a door so I drove the truck over to the fence and away from the building. Christ almighty you’d think I’d murdered somebody’s weans!
