Slower average HGV speed since raising of the speed limit

Back on topic…

Trucks are going faster. The problem is that cars are going slower so we’re being held up by them. Spent what seemed like an eternity yesterdayon the A6 going from Buxton to Chesterfield at 30MPH behind some twonk on their holidays who seemingly couldn’t cope with a road with bends and unfortunately there’s not many passing places there.

Ughhh the “pull out in front of you” brigade because they see a big bad slow lorry looming and they end up slowing you down by 15 - 20 mph, and then there’s the ones who go 58 mph on the straight or a little dual carriageway then back down to 25 - 35 in the bendy bits…

I’ve noticed that since the speed limit went up for hgv there are some roads that have had the speed limit reduced from 60 to 50.

There are a few roads in particular near me that have reduced from national speed limit to 50 mainly single carriageway but also a few dual carriageway sections reduced to 50.

If anyone knows the Bochum Parkway in Sheffield :unamused: :unamused: dual carriageway 40mph :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ridiculous :imp: runs from Greenhill to Lightwood/Norton and heading towards Gleadless/Manor (for those out of town) :wink:

Unmarked cars DO operate :laughing: My wife joined Bochum Parkway towards Greenhill and was passed by a fast moving car, thought nothing of it (she admitted to doing 50 at the time :wink: ) Then another car passed her seconds later :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Then she saw blue lights and flashing :laughing: :laughing: for the first car that had passed her :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: She now only does 40 on that road :laughing:

Know it very well and agree the 40 limit is stupid and a lot exceed the limit which is why they often put mobile cameras on it. Good little earner. Sheffield seems to have more than it’s fair share of unmarked cars, some unusual ones as well. I seem to remember seeing a Renualt scenic a few years back.

Or subverted it to Brexit and how those furreners are taking away our fast roads and replacing `em with slow furren ones.
