Why the ■■■■ do tachos take so long to sow how long you have been on break when the ignition is off■■?
Tell me about it. What a pain in the arse. Newer VDO ones aren’t as bad but the older ones seem to take forever.
Mine never used to do this, keys in or out. Seems to have started doing it from last week, 15 plate motor and it’s like being back in an 06 iveco.
A.
my 08 vdo is ok only takes a minute then shows

How a tacho works out what mode the previous minute is to be recorded as works as a “sandwich”. So to know how to record the minute at 6:01am it looks at what the time was the mode changed at 6:00am and then if there was a change in the 6:02am minute and calculates the mode 6:01am should be recorded as. So in order to display the ■■■■■■■■■■ break time correctly it has to wait 2 minutes, the minute you turned the key on and the minute after to see if there was a mode change and when in that minute it occurred.

And there was me thinking the leprechauns had to work it out on an abacus
