Ok I’m driving coaches and just finished a tour carrying 49 from slovinia, and it got me thinking as one said they have initials SI on plate, I’ve never seen many in uk or western Europe, so have you and what companies re truck etc are from there.
I think it’s Slovenia and they’ve SLO on plates. SI is internet TLD and 2-letter country code, though.
If you took austrian A9 or A10 you must have seen plenty of them, ‘every other’ truck on those motorways is from SLO. That’s how they get to DE and Benelux.
As of companies, Intereuropa comes to mind first, perhaps oldest SLO/YU company, used to be dark green MB tractor/cab and grey tilts, now lighter green & white livery. Viator&Vektor, perhaps biggest SLO haulier, Scanias, TGAs, Ivecos, all white with orange&green stripes. Brus, eye catching red scanias with blue trailers, yellow lettering. Also Petrans, yellow&blue scanias, certainly seen these at Dover… TIB, ADR carrier, red MBs and MANs… Peklaj AS, white DAFs with colourful lettering and ‘splatter’…

There’s also Kavcnik, the company who used to own my F16:)

Ross.
PS, The plates are German 5 day temp’ registration.
I see very often slovenian trucks in UK. I forgot the name (I am not sure if it starts with D) but the letters are in that layout where you have first and last letters biggest and it gets smaller to the middle. I guess the company name is a surname, but I just can’t recall it now
The trucks are white and the curtains are red.
Its really a lot of them coming here.
if you want to see plenty of slovenian trucks go to the andamur truckstop in la jonquera, the locals call it “little ljubljana” there’s so many of them parked there waiting for work.
its rather appropriate isn’t it that they have SLO on the numberplate, maybe there’s not enough room to put the W on the end as they never get above 80k
Maybe rename Jonquera Sofia, due to a Bulgarian grocery and truck bits shop that has set up there.

there’s plenty of bulgarian and romanian shops in spain now toby, the romanians are now the largest immigrant population in spain having overtaken the brits
a population study from january 2011 found over 860,000 romanians in spain compared to about 750,000 brits but according to a recent radio debate i was listening to a greater percentage of the brits are working or non state dependant pensioners whereas there are more romanians on the paro (dole system)
Where have all the cab robbers gone from the 1990`s that would wait until you were backing on to a fruit packing house, the driver opens the trailer doors, chats to the warehouse staff, all this time the cab is not locked, and the contents were pilfered, all the drivers and myself would never see who did it,the rumour was that Arabic immigrants were living in the orange groves in the Valencia area, and the local police were too scared to flush them out, about once a year the riot squad would pay a visit after public outrage with a forthcoming election.
I was told a driver had his scrotum ruptured after a fight with a gang, while he was defending his truck. The BP,on the split, where you head home to Teruel, before Castelon, was a robbing area,i went to clean my teeth,on return,an ambulance was parked by my cab,the driver asked if i was double manning,as another man was seen by my cab,i had been robbed, they left the passport, took clothes and a small amount of pestats. What was weird, was that i saw the same ambulance, with the same man in it,about 4 hours later coming back the other way.
