Anyone got any pictures of Sloans Haulage trucks. They were active nationally in the seventies with powder tankers.
Think they morphed in to Hogg of Kilsyth eventually.

Hiya grinley51… theres a photo on truck net. its a broxbourne tank on a sloans left ■■■■■■ DAF unit if i,am correct
i think the driver is a mate of mine from nr ashbourne. i thought the sloans lorry was on the daf site, i,ve looked its not there,
its a long slog to go through all the pages, the search mode dos,nt bring the photo up either. its out there someone may know
where it is.
John
Hi John. Thanks, but I`ve seen that one.It was taken after the Hogg takeover when I believe a lot off odd things were going on.The red and white was a new colour scheme, the originals being blue/white/grey ISTR.
The tank in that picture is one of the original ones as the fleet was all Crane Freuhauf except for one Carmichael and the paint scheme is correct.
Ask your mate if he ever ran a front wheel bearing at Gretna when he worked for Sloan.

Hiya…i just spoke to that pal of mine…(in callis) waiting to get on the ferry Gridley, he told me it was nr glasgow that DAF
fitted a new wheel bearing when the company was hogg,s, he also told me he has some sloans/broxbourne/hoggs photo,s.
i,am in north wales but will see my mate nr Matlock next week at a rally, he may lend me some photo,s i,ll see.
John
John,I only asked because I did a stub/bearing outside Gretna on a Sloan 2800 which had a Derbyshire driver.
Went straight from there to a 2800 near Castle Douglas which had a broken crankshaft.
The company was still Mike Sloans at the time as it was sold after I had moved on.
Btw,Gretna is just outside Glasgow to a guy from the peaks.

time i,ll check next week. i do know there was a subbie who jacked in driving and now lives in france.
John
Aye,the old red phone box.We used it if we wanted to phone in which was rare.He thought nothing of asking the police to tell us to phone in.
