Now boys and girls i am not usually prone to a rant but what is it with people joining motorways from slip roads i watched one yesterday down he came totally unaware that i was there then panics when hes getting near the end i had slowed in anticipation as i couldn’t get out he swerves into the inner lane then realizes there’s someone there and changes his mind and comes in front of me then sticks his fingers up at me because obviously its all my fault that he cant drive [zb] rant over
Thats just the way it is matey they [zb] up and give u grief all because they are incompetent drivers, get used to it im afraid
Now then, there is the slight possibility that he was a short fellow, driving a low 2 door car, hedges/grass overgrown, he had a stiff neck, and just got caught you in his blind spot!
Now, I refer you to the Kent Karnage post…
Go on rant away, its good for you.
I love the slip road blinkered self important incompetents, there you are in the worlds brightest painted lorry cruising down the inside, here he comes in his blinged car he’s paying for for ever totally oblivious to all thats going on around, only the 6 ft in front of the bonnet, he doesn’t have a clue you are there for you are nobody, finally he’s at the end of the acceleration lane and for some strange reason you haven’t disappeared by forcing the vehicle beside you into the armco or the vehicle beside him or braked to accomodate his majesty, and yes it all your fault, don’t you know how important mr majestic coffee handshake is.
Back to driving skool for you to learn your place.
Getting on or off any fast road by these numpties is a total disaster. They’re one of the reasons for all the tailbacks and queuing at rush hour because they don’t grasp the concept of filtering and the tossers on the main carriageway are as bad for not leaving room for them to get on.
And the racers that cross all the carriageway to dart in for a junction! Well I could rant forever about those pillocks!

Are they the pillocks who dont realise that despite sticking their foot down, cutting infront of a lorry causing it to brake then swinging onto the slip road at the last minute, they’re still stuck behind the same car as if they’d driven sensibly and waited behind said lorry?
If they are, then they ■■■■ me off too!
Not just me then its getting worse out there i
I have had a truck slow down in Lane 1 to let me in. I had already read the situation, had left ind going and was braking to let him pass. It ended up with me stationary on the hard shoulder, and brain dead, stationary in Lane 1, still waiting for me to join.

I feel the same about the lorries, sorry, “trucks”, that drive for mile after mile in lane 1 when the big orange sign says " congestion, use hard shoulder".

Had a car pull out from the slip road onto my nose about a week ago.
He was on the phone, right hand to the ear and totally oblivious to anything around him.
Until I sat on the horn, dropped the phone and probably his guts as well. Then gave me the V’s and flew off. All you can do is laugh.
“Vehicles on the slip road having priority over vehicles on the main carriageway” has been the norm for quite a few years now, although it does appear to be getting worse…Get used to it…!!!
What really ■■■■■■ me off is when the slip road is 2 lanes, whereby the inside lane becomes the inside lane of the main carriageway, whereas the outside lane of the slip road has to feed into the 2nd lane of the main carriageway, for example, where the slip road joins at gate 23 of the clockwise M25. Why oh why oh why when there is only one vehicle on the slip road, beit car or truck, they insist on using lane 2 of the slip road causing chaos on the M25 when they try to force there way out, when lane 1 was completely clear on both the slip road and on the M25 and if it had been used, would have caused no problem whatsoever ■■?
and the tossers on the main carriageway are as bad for not leaving room for them to get on.
Totally agree, sometimes it is impossible to get off the slip road onto the carriageway without taking up somebodies’ braking distance.
So is the consensus here, that we would be better off with autonomous vehicles free from “human problems”, that filtered and integrated traffic flow logically?
Or am I just stirring the …

In which case they would need to program the computer with the rule of merge at slip roads.Instead of the rule of priority which humans are lumbered with.
On the topic of two-lane sliproads it never fails to amaze me how many lorry ‘drivers’ enter the M6 northbound from Corley services at about 25mph in the right lane rather than using the left lane instead to at least pick up moderate speed first. It causes chaos and is absolute idiocy.
It really is time that the driving test incorporated some sort of mandatory motorway driving. Fair enough I appreciate that in some parts of the UK where test centres are many miles from a motorway this may not be possible, but such places must at least have dual carriageways nearby where some element of lane obedience and slip-road common sense can be taught. I’ve only been driving for a living for 10 years but even in this time I have noticed the standard of motorway driving falling. A Polish lad that works at our place who has driven all over Europe tells me that we’re the only country that tolerates this sort of buffoonery on the motorways. I suppose it doesn’t help when there’s fewer police than ever on the road to enforce the rules though.

buffoonery
Love it!

it may say use the hard shoulder but are you obliged to,i could be wrong but I don’t think so,same situation with cyclists and cycle lanes, when I argue with cyclists about using the cycle lane, they are correct when they reply they don’t have to,its not law
Its an instruction, its not advice. Highway code says you must follow instruction.
