Slightly Different RIP

Just wanted to draw some attention to the accident up near Carlisle yesterday, an on duty Traffic Officer lost his life in an accident and I just wanted to pay a little respect to him.
I know on here, in places, there is an anti police feeling, I too have had issues with some officers in the past. However I do have a lot of respect for Traffic officers and the job that they have to do.
Having worked most of my time over the northwest, the lakes and the borders I imagine it’s a tough gig for many reasons.
Let’s face it, he left his house yesterday morning to go and do a job out on the roads that he loved, much like a lot on here and he didn’t come home…so RIP driver.

No one goes to work to not come home, RIP Officer, you’re duty is over [emoji22]

+1

RIP officer

I also had quite a few disagreements with traffic officers, but I last thing you want to hear is someone died trying to do his job. So yes RIP.

Yeah, iv never really had problems with them, spoke to a few and a few let me off when i was younger for doing stupid things. Rip officer

Very sad and not that far from where a Highways Traffic Officer got killed a few years ago. Sad when you go to do a days work and don’t return. RIP

Respect

What was the circumstances ?

Single vehicle apparently - “veered into ditch”. Either a medical issue or simply fell asleep would be my guess.

Just read about it responding to an emergency, I doubt he fell asleep would have been super alert at high speed eyes on stalks

I did say it was a guess - hadn’t seen any reference to him being on a shout, just that it “veered into the ditch”.

,

RIP Nick, attended many jobs with him. Spent 6 hours manning the closure at J44 yesterday, taking all manner of verbal abuse from the public.

Adam is still mentioned in conversation every day in our station, Hard to believe it’s the 4 year anniversary of his death in 25 days. :frowning:

Sad thing to happen at any time, but when you leave for work…

It’s because of my response to Jim’s comments on his weekly blog where he basically insinuated that because of Adam getting killed, we wont be getting a bonus that they found a reason to sack me. I found it totally disrespectful to Adam and all who work on the road on a daily basis. I have the upmost loathing of HE senior management. RIP Adam.

They tried to sack me for comments I made on my Twitter feed, I got a 2 year final written warning. The sooner I can get another job, the better.

RIP officer.
