Sleeping in the truck tips

Morning everyone,

Hope you are all well.

This is my first post on here. Simply I would like to know some helpful tips for sleeping in the truck at night, meaning what should I take with me and any other essentials.

To be more specific, I’m about to start new job as a tipper/transportation driver. I have been driving for about 5 months prior to this, however this will be the first time I will potentially be sleeping in the cab at night.

Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback.

Cheers

Take everything you’ll need if you were camping except the tent of course, earplugs are a must in my book too. The more nights out you do the more things you’ll start taking with you believe me.

Plenty of snack crisps, chocolate, chewing gum etc.
Beer
Bread
Cheese
a bottle to urinate in (maybe two)
Tuna salads (sealed in the pack)
oat cakes
Packets of nuts
dried fruit (maybe fresh fruit)
coffee
plug in kettle 24v
Tea
Disposable cups
Disposable cutlery
wet wipes
paper towels
tooth brush
tooth paste
hair brush
spare clothes
bath brush, shampoo, soap
Towle
smart phone
Spare sat nav
all chargin leads for the above
a bit of money
Sleeping bag
fitted sheet (to put over your mattress)

I have probally missed something

Sometimes people can over think the whole tramping idea and take stuff that you just wont use.

Make sure the first things that you pack are your clothes and washing items for the week, there is no need to be manky all week just because your living in your truck.
Is there a fridge in your truck? Do you have your own? I like my tea and coffee so I make sure I have fresh milk, tea bags and coffee, I have my small stove that I boil my kettle on.

At the end of the day I like to get out the cab and go for a walk, I have my oven that I put on can have nice meals not just the ping ding type when out on the road, but will also stop and get something cooked.

I stay away from fast foods as they can fill you up temporarily. Some drivers like to park up go for a meal and a pint.
After a couple of weeks you will quickly realise the things that you use and dont use. I prefer a double duvet rather than a sleeping bag.

Get yourself a couple of spare bulbs from the workshop for changing on the road and have a screwdriver set including torqx for removing the rear lenses. I have a head torch for doing my checks on the vehicle and have a pair of gloves.

Hope this helps, if you will be in the same unit you can start to keep the things in it so makes it easier, cheers Paul
