Sleeping bags for overnight stops

Just wondered if a normal sleeping bag would be ok for the cab providing the night heater is working ok or would you opt for a 4 seasons bag, I don’t like sleeping red hot but at the same time don’t want to wake up blue in my lips, thanks for any advice

I personally feel that this depends on whether you’ll have a regular lorry or if you’re likely to have lorry one week and another the next. I have a regular unit and like my home comforts so keep an all seasons duvet and bottom sheet in there rather than a sleeping bag.

To be honest, with a good night heater it won’t get cold in the cab but even then, the setting you have it on when you’re relaxing will likely be too warm for sleeping in so keep that in mind

first week in this job I took a summer sleeping bag thinking it would be all I need with the night heater :frowning: night heater works with a timer 120min max ,63 plate man) 2nd week bought a 4 season bag , was ruddy cooking , this week I have a quilt (this is 1st night ) so fingers crossed . at least I will be able to stick my feet out if the need arises , oh and I have the bag in the truck just in case . everyones different you can only try stuff to see what suits you.

I have a large 3 and a bit seasons sleeping bag. Kept me warm in the dead of December when I was tramping in a sleeper box with no night heater. The wagon I have now does have a heater but I don’t run it at night. I do turn it on the mornings though.

thanks, I will be using the same truck unless there are any breakdowns or in for service, does your bedding get damp if you leave it in the truck, ie over your 45 hour break ? cheers

your bedwetting worries are most likely to be relevant as to how bladdered you get and your choice of channel on the telly,

Not really mate but I’d suggest that if you’re out all week then take the covers/sheets home at weekends for cleaning just to stop it stinking.

The night heater will run all night

Stockport HGV were great, it’s around 50 miles from you but they are reasonable in price and also do the CPC course if you haven’t got it and if needed they will arrange a hotel nearby… I travelled 30 odd miles to do my CPC and drivers course followed by the test, mainly cause I didn’t know Stockport at all so thought it would be good experience for driving in the real world where you drive daily not knowing the area…best of luck
