All professional drivers have many requirements for their daily rest to be legal:
- You must be able to stand up in the cab space without bumping your head
!Yeah, so all car transporters are soon to be taken off the road, along with 90% of eight wheeleres, all renault premiums for 6 footers and FM Globetrotters etc etc etc.

Nah mate they will just employ… Dwarfs/height restricted people/short arses etc etc. Certainly would look for the government
ETA: sorry Quinny. See we both have the same sense of humour
No you definitely need to be able to stand up to be out more than three nights on the bounce, you can’t take your 45 sat in the drivers seat and if anyone from the office contacts you during your break you have to start again.
I love it! any more nonsense please post it’s just great.
Isn’t there a thread or post that is dedicated to the legal definition of a sleeper cab?
I have had plenty of nights out in a day cab
I wouldn’t do it now mind older and more arthritic
kr79:
you can do up to three nights a week in a standard cab. any more has to be a top line or globetrotter etc. You must sleep with your head at least six feet from the steering wheel otherwise its not proper rest.
and there you are, a so called professional driver
it is 2 nights out, not three
did the Driver CPC first aid course not teach you anything

I’m gutted they’ve banned Dwarf Chucking… although i have to agree that picking up and dropping random short fella’s just aint cricket!
it is still allowed in within the walls of chester. or is that shooting a welshman.
Yeah but you have to pick em up with a bow and arrow and shoot them across the city walls!

Ok in answer to his Q… “Someone told me you need to be able to stand up, is this true”Simple answer… No.
How can you be so sure? I would bet that at some point someone will have told him exactly that.
I can stand up if I open the sunroof, does that count?
Nah, the first sleeper I drove was a Renault 18t with a regular height cab.
I’d reckon the bit that is important is if it is fitted with a bed And possibly that’s it!
Things like night heaters, curtains, storage capacity, standing room and everything are all optional
Is it national troll month
Must have frilly curtains, and 6 spotlamps on the roof.

It is, but you may be pleased to know that after this one the next doesn’t begin until 01/02/2012.
I hope this helps.

I heard that it is going to be an offence to send any driver over 5ft 6in to do a night out due to the possible lack of headroom. The company can have a restriction put on their ‘O’ licence if you are found to be too tall for nights out and they have to put you in an hotel for the night whilst the truck is not to be moved. The police will put chalk marks round the wheels to ensure that it has not moved.
This has come from a very reliable source - his transit pick-up is in the pub car park every afternoon, so I know he’s not a “fly-by-night” and he’s been involved in transport for a long time.

This doesn’t ring true, no mention of the colour of the chalk.
