Sky+HD Box...

Hi all,not sure if this is the correct forum but the techy minded bods here have been a great help before.

So, I have just had sky fitted in at home, one sky+HD box in the living room and one standard sky box in another room (mine!!! :wink: ), not signed for the HD pack though. After seeing the difference in the two pictures with the sky+HD box connected via an HDMI lead and the standard box connected via a standard scart lead i have decided to get another sky+HD box for the second room.

Both boxes are connected to brand new,identical make LG TVs`s. The only difference is the screen size, a 42in in the living room and a 47in in my room.

Sky want to charge me £190 for anther sky+HD box :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: …yeah right, like that’s going to happen so I turn to ebay. Quite a few on there all around the £50 mark.

My question is (finally :laughing: ) if I get another sky+HD box and connect to my TV, put in the existing card will it work?? Has anyone here done the same and what was the end result??

I have been told that there are no issues with me getting my own Sky+HD box from else where but I would have to inform sky so as they can upgrade my card. For this there is NO CHARGE!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Any advise would be very welcome. Many thanks in advance. :wink:

you can do that but you need to contact sky to get your viewing card activated in the new box

Thanks fizza, thats what I was told but will sky make a charge for doing that?

Will they need to send me a new card or just work their magic via the signal on the current card?

Still cant believe they wont make some sort of charge though!!

not sure i think they just send a message to the box via telephone line so make sure it is plugged in to the phone line don’t say you want it as another box just say your changing the original hd box they should tell you first if you will be charged

Cheers fizza, will be getting the other box later this week hopefully so will give it a go then.
