Skips

its wind back time
got a day on skips tomorrow
first time in years
first skip work i did was for BFI just with ordinary then worked for a firm
called D W Newman who were scrap metal dealers
well most of it was just scrap metal
you know the sort iron steel aluminum and copper

then there was the siver gold and platinum

not that we saw much of the precious though stories were told that the boss drove round
with a gold bar in his car for months thinking he had lost it

oh and before i started their was the hijacked truck en route to Belguim from the yard in South Wales
no it wasnt lost by the company with green tippers

Well got in for 8 o’clock
and got pointed towards a P reg Merc which started ok what a shed
the boss man who said he would go out with me on the first run and tell me what do do
any how he wanders and comes back with a job sheet
take this to there and pick up one from somewhere else

the trucks got a metal bumper so you shouldnt do to much damage he says
and that was that i remembered the basics took my time and after the first job i thought i was an
expert

in the yard i tipped the rubbish but couldnt for the life of me remember how i got the tipping
thing up…so as i had same size skip for next job i beat a retreat to some empty units and had a fiddle

i marked all the levers which i thought was genius

its a good job basic skip lorries are small i had to park across the load to tip and collect most of the jobs
and the Ibis hotel car park a nightmare

i’ll take a few snaps with phone camera today cos i’m doing it again

The story is that the company is building up its casual list for the summer
so whilst theres a bit of work hes getting people in to do odd days to see if they pass muster
