Some trucks have them. But I never had one. You get to know roughly how much they weigh by the way the truck lifts them. It’s the builders skips for soil are the ones to watch. If it’s been raining and the skip doesn’t have the custom rusted floor for drainage then that b****** is going to well over and the front end of the truck is definitely going airborne. But I’ve found that edbro lifting equipment is one of the best and will lift most heavy skips with no effort and
Just as I left my old firm took on a lady. Never done it before. She was a very small girl and had trouble with the physical side. Torquing wheel nuts was even a problem as she could t move the torque bar. She’s still doing it tho

There’s jobs going where my OH works but he doesn’t want me to work there and he thinks I will struggle with it.So its back to the drawing board.

So you struck out at one tipper firm? So what? There must be 10 others loal to you, go and tap them up! You’ve got 8 days more experience doing that, than dropping and collecting skips!
Is there a reason you are so set against general haulage?

Yes there are a few others but word gets around doesn’t it. I’ll probably be blacklisted now lol.
My impression (forgive my ignorance if I am wrong) is that general haulage is lugging heavy cages around, I have had 3 ops on my shoulders so I’m not particularly strong.
Just heard that I have a chance of a few days a week class 2 at Hermes where I did 7.5t for 18 months so I think I will take that for now, it will add to my experience and I’ll have a bit of income. Doing every Saturday puts me off though but it will be better than nothing.
Blimey you dinged a couple of bits and pieces, just like many people with licenses that are so fresh they are still warm. You’ve hardly started a union and organised a strike have you?
Blacklisting? No chance, they need bums on seats, and they hope that some will stay long enough to be useful! Get yourself out and looking!
I’m confused? Where was “dinging a couple of bits and pieces” mentioned? only thing I read here is that here OH (other half?) won’t let her work at the same place as him. (I’m not getting involved on that one btw, no siree)

I have done general haulage & never yet moved a cage opened / closed the curtains up yep strapped a load down yep
I am female btw not that tall or heavy have a total bad back ( fractured prolapsed disc etc ) tbh I find fridge work sits me the best even if I do work mainly nights
I think the OP is confusing general haulage with store deliveries, like the Tesco Extra’s and Coop’s and such, I never once loaded /unloaded a cage on gen haulage
