I don’t see what’s wrong with working for the love of the job…
I think if more people did there wouldn’t be the attitude so many have got nowadays where “it ain’t my problem” but it just ends up affecting the people that do care.
Trailer defects
Load security
Shared facilities
Parking
It’s all got alot to do with so many drivers just doing it for the money and not giving a ■■■■ about the other people these issues affect.

Sorry mate, no offence but that at best is over simplification, and at worst got to be among the biggest load of ■■■■■■■■ I have ever heard about this job in 30+ years.
It aint an either/or situation where guys who do it for the money don’t care about essential aspects of the job,.and the others who are willing to work for ■■■■ all (and in many cases as long as their truck have ■■■■ spotlamps or something who imo are partly responsible for poor wages) …do.
Don’t run away with the idea that you have a more professional approach to the job than somebody who does not share the enthusiasm that you appear to have…and especially not me !
I am well past the naive wide eyed stage where everything is a bed of roses, instead…due to a much varied experience, I am a realist, but at the same time do not hate the job by any means, and furthermore I do prioritise on…yeh, ok, all the things you list and then some.
I only put the negatives down for me there are some positives I agree it gets people with no experience a go in eurowork and they are that laid back there is no rush at all most of the time you get too much time to do the job. The thing for me is if I had two days off and 4 hrs each way travelling it just isn’t worth going home and I would be taking a pay cut which I’m not willing to do just to do eurowork permanently. Where a am now I normally go over once a month or thereabouts but earn more for doing that so it suits me. If itsjust euro work you want and dont mind a drop in money and don’t expect a new wagon u can do worse.
What you think people not giving a ■■■■ about the job has nothing to do with how they treat things they use etc while they are at work??
[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]
I’ve had defects that others have just ignored cos they’ll have a different trailer 2mrw…
Too much of the “I’m alright jack” mentality and you can see that in drivers attitude on the road and especially when parking up.
Or is that also the most bollox you’ve heard in a million trucking years■■?

No, but that is different to only being good and professional about the job only because you are daft enough to do the job only for the love of it with disregard to the money aint it ?..as you first suggested.
There is that happy medium there somewhere between the naive and the mercenary.
I agree there is certainly a selfish attitude among many drivers, but that has little or nothing to do with the fact that most do it to pay their mortgage and feed their family.
I too once loved the job many years ago, but I have certainly not become less professional about it as the interest dwindled.
Maybe there is a connection that you suggest in many cases, but to blame the problem on guys who aint interested in Kelsa bars nor who are cab happy is ridiculous.
Oh yeh,.and you are 999,962 years out in your calculation btw.

This is exactly what is wrong with this forum. A bloke asks a question about a specific company and it ends up in a ■■■■ comparing contest. The company take on new starts, are flexible and don’t push hard, the wages are geared to those who do the work, get the job done without a nursemaid.
I understand a new larker can follow another driver until he is competent and confident. He gets paid unlike some companies that don’t pay for assessments or training
so do there motors have fridges in or mostly not, i only ask because i may be going there,
and are the motors cleaned before a new guy gets it as ive gone to some jobs as a tramper and the motors are shockingly dirty and to expect me to put my clean gear and bedding in is bad.

How old are you?? Has Mr Wheelnut offended you in another life? Wheelnut has been a on here for 14 / 15 years, and, from what I remember, has been around the block and done a fair bit.
Why the offensive and abusive comment?? Seriously, why??

Again…more unpleasantness ! Unnecessary, unwarranted and uncalled for. Why cant the moderators of this forum deal with this?
Its a shame really. I have been a member of this forum since November 2003 (and before that, on the older forums). It has been a great source of information, fun, and shared experiences. Now there are seemingly more and more disturbed, unbalanced and irrational individuals posting on here on a daily basis. Maybe it has become a magnet for the “Walts” and the Wannabes.
