Sj barghs stoke

Hi I have been reading reviews about SJ Barghs. There are comments stating drivers doing max hours (15 hours). I thought milk collection was inder Domestic Rules and duty time is no over the 11 hours including breaks as it is out of scope?

Does anybody work for SJ Barghs? How do you find it? many thanks!

SJ Bargh not only do farm collection work, but also do what is called “reload” … collection tankers tranship into artic tankers for delivery to dairies/ processors … this can involve trunking / tramping all over UK … can also involve waiting to load / unload. Reload tankers are not on Domestic Hrs. Hence drivers can max hrs.

Thank you very much… that makes sense now.

I’ve not worked for Bargh, but have worked on the milk for Turners, Arla, Lloyd Fraser and occasionally Wincanton. It depends on the operation. Some have dedicated ex-farm shifts only, usually double shifted, which tend to be on Domestic rules, because its local, and because you can work 7 days a week, it’s easier to fill rotas.
Others mix the work, and as said above, reload and trunking is on EU rules. If you do any shift during the week under EU rules, than all subsequent shifts that week must adhere to EU rules as well.
Only ex-farm (collections from farm for direct delivery to dairy or reload site) are permitted under Domestic rules. Delivery from a reload site to a dairy must be under EU rules.
