I love it!
I started driving Class 2 in August and progressed onto Class 1 at the beginning of October, I have had a few ups and downs along the way as you would expect as a new driver but I can honestly say that I really do enjoy the job… I would highly recommend it to those who are considering it as a new career.
Good on you Micky. I have been watching you develop.
Erm…I meant ’ mature '. This post isn’t going too well.
What I mean is, I have a real interest in you. Christ…no wonder I have to sign that stupid register every week.
I’ve you’ve got any trees outside your house get them chopped down quick, it’ll be like the opening scenes of little Nicky!
All I was trying to do was support the lad, Nick.
If he needs a hand, I will give him a touch.
Oh crap. I’ve done it again…
Is it a gloved white hand? Is mickey code for Macaulay?!
On a slightly more serious note. Micky, have you encountered any of the following issues?
- Left your number plate on the trailer.
- Wound the legs so fast that all the rusty water in the winding handle has gone all over you.
- Got grease all over your leg from the leading edge of the trailer, where knobs have scraped the grease off the 5th wheel onto it.
- Spent about 5 minutes looking for the trailer brake.
- Struggled for about another 5 minutes trying to put the dog clip in the hole in the dark because you have left your torch in another cab.
My ’ friend ’ has done all the above on my, I mean his learning curve.

- Not yet

- Never had this problem - I must be too old and slow to achieve water splatter speed.

- Yes - regularly

- Yes - regularly

- I use the torch on my phone but often leave it in the cab, spend 5 minutes fumbling in the dark before realising that I am going to have to make the arduous journey all the way back to the cab to retrieve the phone.
No 6 Would be forgetting to turn on the light at the back of the cab and not being able to see to connect up the suzies.
Good effort so far mate. I have almost perfected popping the red airline off with one hand.
I am not sure why though.
Terrible thing envy…
And I have it
Its all I want tooooo doooooooooooooo
All the best fella, glad ya goals full

Similar situation to you , passed c+e last Feb gained experience as such last year working for a small firm driving their artic to London and back once a fortnight when the regular driver had his 45 . Thought myself an artic driver until the beginning of this year when changed jobs to work for a big haulage firm . I’m only shunting from one sight to the other but the spaces you have to manoeuvre in make you realise what you can do in an artic in a very limited space . And yes great fun .
