Sittingbourne to Erith

I will be going from Sittingbourne to Erith in an artic tomorrow lunch time and its a run I do occasionally but always get caught in heavy traffic when getting to the point where the A2 gets onto the M25 until I get off at junction 1a and head up the A206 to Erith.

So anybody know if there’s an easier route to Asda at Erith if I carry on along the A2 and avoid the Dartford toll que on the 25. That part of the world is not high on my list of places that I know.

Many thanks.

I do that run quite regular…you can stay on the A2 and come off at Bexley and cut across Northumberland Heath (A220). It comes out on the 206 at the roundabout by Erith station. Its ok for a change but to be honest no quicker than the usual A206 route. Hope this helps.

If u leave the A2 at the Greenhithe/Bluewater exit you can work your way through crossways ind. park and cross the M25 at the junction you want, sorry I can’t be more precise with directions but its been a long time since I went that way

You could try dartford heath then round crayford

That’s what I’d do, go past Bluewater and keep going until you pick up the M25 signs and follow them, brings you out at the roundabout above the toll booths.

No weight limits then ?

No mate, a couple of sets of lights and thats about it. Its always handy to have an alternative route.

Did Erith to Sittingbourne around 7 o-clock this morning, bloody glad I wasn’t going the other way, you’re very wise to look for an alternative to the obvious.

Bald Blokes going at lunchtime…should’nt be too bad then whatever way he goes.

Well I don’t know about that it can take quite a while to go from j 2 to j 1a even though it’s only a short hop, but I have a couple of alternatives know .

I concur. Been doing this for years. It’s the best way past the evening rush hour queues for the tolls.

If you get to the Mcdonalds roundabout at the bottom of the bluewater hill bit, you can either go straight on for the crossways link road as already mentioned, or turn left, and later right into cotton lane at the lights.

I find Cotton lane works better when all the crossways depots are kicking out at around 5pm, 5:30, and 6:00.
At other times, cotton lane is slower than the crossways link road.
