Hiya…who,s site, are you joking. it would take me a year to list all the sites i,ve delivered to. when we did general
haulage in the 70,s you could deliver to as many as 10 or 12 places a week. some loads could be from Liverpool docks to
Kirby then back for a reload for London. in the 80,s i was driving a 4 wheeler van. 3 times a week would be 10 or 12
deliveries in central London. one time i went to Scotland with 57 drops(make up the orders for each shop as you did
the route)to John Menzie shops(with play dough/trivial per suite/and care bears), the list would a mile long.

I can’t even remember whether this place was in Nottingham or Northampton, but it was one of the two (I hope!) I only went there twice and that’s now 40 years ago.

It was a small backstreet fruit and veg wholesaler who were situated up a narrow twisting driveway, not much wider than the wagon. The only way in was to reverse since there was not enough room to turn round. IIRC there was a wall on the driver’s side, but there was a nasty set of railings with curved spikes on the nearside. These spikes were at just the right height to rip a sheet from end to end. It was bad enough in a rigid, but artics went there too; luckily I never suffered that experience.
