Site work advice

Having a mare hrs wise, some are not that big ,doesn’t matter where you park your in the way ,so what do you lads do who have done it for years do when you run out of hours on site .

  1. When your out of hours but they want the product you have on , ok if they can tip you there but need you to move to tip you
2 you’ve not completed your daily rest but the place you were originally told to park is now not convient and they can’t continue to work with you where you are ,3/4 hrs left on daily rest .
I know what you should do ,but I guess it can cost a lot of £££££££££ to have x amount of workers ,machinery stood due to truck in way ,but by moving off site after 8 hrs ,your 3 hrs short on daily rest .i doubt ministry would be to impressed with your reason for reducing / moving .
N.b offices answer is do what you thinks best :unamused:

Planners always put it in the drivers hands…i would move the truck to tip…after tipping park up for a 45…then go off site…before that do a print out, explain the circumstances, and thats all you can do mate…

I guess it sounds like your doing what every one says you shouldn’t here. Are you allowing your firm to do what they like with ya? I’m not an advocate of it, as I prefer to get things done in anyway I can, but do u need to start costing them these thousands of pounds, and stop making it your issue.your on salary arnt you? Park it up after 10 hours duty.

If you do have to go onto a site when tight on your hours, make sure you have a back up plan ie. somewhere nearby you know you can park so you can pull out if they are taking ages to get to you. If there are no other parking options apart from begging to stay on site, I’d be informing the planner it’ll be getting done in the morning - be firm with them.

Once it’s time to park up, the curtains don’t open, never mind this ‘we need the product’ ■■■■■■■■, it’s not your problem.

Sounds a lot to me like they are taking the ■■■■ out of you and your letting them. Don’t think the planners don’t know which drivers they can try it on with.

Are you talking about your required 45 or end of your total daily shift hours,if its the latter you should have parked up and explained you did not have enough hours to complete the tip and will see them when you start next shift
A situation of your own doing,if you was getting short of enough time to complete your tip without running out of time, why make an attempt to do it in the first place.
Either situation its up to you to tell them you can either tip me where I am whilst I am on break, no problem,or wait until I can move to where ever you want me.
Never get concerned about what its costing them, they won`t give a fig about your licence or legality

Thanks all ,had words ,now dropping tri 1/2 before out of hours then parking up ,then not moving until daily rest is up ,theyl have to get another truck in to move / tip tri .
Fri was final straw ,thanks again

It has got to take at least an hour to tip almost anything on a Curtainsider, so don’t go on site unless you have time to get to where you want to be overnight afterwards on top of that hour. If they don’t like it tough. You don’t have to spend the night on an industrial estate.

Simple rule of thumb: Legal parking, toilet and washing facilities available nearby which will be OPEN? Food nearby? likely to be quiet enough to be able to sleep? Then OK to stop. Answer No to any of these? then you need to be able to drive elsewhere.

Remember. They will all LIE through their teeth to get you to do what they want.

If you did choose to stay on site for their benefit, parked where they said and now they have changed their mind - tough the lorry stays where it is.

Don’t get put in this situation in the first place, you don’t HAVE to max out your hours. Manyana.

If the load is that desperate to get there today and you are going to be too short on time to tip, ring in early enough tell them so and that you will be at X services where you will drop the trailer and park next to it. Your company has enough vehicles, depots and drivers to get the load tipped and 11 hrs to arrange another load for you tomorrow. The planner just has to earn his day’s money.

Top tip…grow some ■■■■■■■■.

His planner is going to be in for one hell of a shock when Dozy does indeed grow a pair.

Drop your trailer and ■■■■ off half an hour before time up.
Find a good pub with a park big enough for a unit, pick trailer up in morning …You’re welcome :sunglasses:

There you go Dozy. Gardening advice. Grow some ■■■■■■■■.

Doubt he could grow some tomatoes let alone ■■■■■■■■. If he were to plant ■■■■■■■■ now would they flower by spring?
