Just had a look. It seems very odd, all the metals firms I know (big or small) have been flat out for years, maybe it’s over capacity and SITA are coming off worst for some reason?

If you google Sita metals closure you will get the full story, sorry don,t know how to post a link, cheers.
Cheers, I’d Googled Sita metals and not seen anything and their website doesn’t say anything. Adding the word closure reveals all, or in this case not much! It is all a bit odd.
I worked for a big one a few years ago & often wondered how they made any £money what with all the scams going on.
A £6.50ph weighbridge operator with a £24k Mitsubishi Lancer ?
When the concrete filled oil drums hit the floor when tipping, it used to go right thru me.
A fellow driver told me that a team of 3 with a Transit sized tipper were the yards biggest earners on light iron. They were tipping a full load 3x a day 5 days a week, earning £80k CASH a year !
I know nothing whatsoever of the scrap industry or its workings but I wonder if it has anything to do with the crackdown on cash payments for dodgy scrap, ie new manhole covers, lead with “property of St Michaels Church” engraved into it etc?
