Single occupancy car drivers

It has to be asked, the next time you are stuck in traffic on the motorway, look around you and you will see 99% of the cars are single occupancy, just the driver.
Where are they all going, at all times of the day. ?I can see why the commuters may need to drive on their own, but the rest of the time why are these cars empty and why can they not go online and sign up for car share schemes,it will cut the fuel bill down too.
If times are tight and fuel prices the most expensive in Europe why do some drivers go flat out burning all the fuel up.?
On the school runs why can`t Mums join a scheme to share the journey, one week on, one week off, full car load at each time.
Look at the clothes the single occupants are wearing, are they working, it seems casual clothing, if so how do they afford these pleasure trips of 40 miles or more to a retail outlet mall.?
On the surface a selfish culture of it is my car , i can go where i want with it.
In the future, i predict a new law and fine for truck overtaking dualling, where one or both refuse to drop the speed off to let the other get past.
A quick dab of the brakes, the over taker is gone,or let the limiter off for a few seconds, you still arrive on time.

So when YOU drive to work in your car, how many passengers do you have in with YOU ■■

I take my whole family and drop them off to work, so that is six in the car, so thanks for asking.

In Los Angeles they have dedicated “Car Pool Lanes” for cars with a minimum of two people, rigidly enforced by cameras and the Highway Patrol, these lanes are segregated from the main carriageway by concrete barriers.
The Interstate routes are six lanes wide in places and peak times are chock full of traffic but the car pool lanes are usually clear

It is a well known fact that Deal or No Deals Noel Edmunds uses a fake dummy in his black taxi to drive to and from work at the studio in Bristol so he can use the car share lanes.
It is a mannequin dressed as a lady and he changes the clothing on it.
A newspaper reported that he took the dummy out for a meal at a local pub with his wife.

I hope you pay more attention when you’re driving.

You don’t actually share the car, you share the driving, use your car one week and his the next. You take your car to his work then to yours, the next week he does the same for you.

Mathematically, the reason so many cars are “driver only” is that motoring isn’t expensive enough, and too many posh cars get to claim the whole lot on expenses, unlike us mere mortals who only get 20% cashback.

My neighbour drives his jag to work, and gets 100% of his fuel refunded to him. This means that he can full up at 155.9 petrol stations at MSAs without worring about wasting money, unlike many of us. Nice work if you can get it I guess…

Just think: If it were not for “no limit expenses”, prices would come crashing down all over, because the custom would evaporate away from overpriced venues overnight - IF you were paying your own way!

I say to you brothers and sisters - Tax scroungers cost us all a lot more than any number of benefit scroungers, because there’s now a cap on the latter.
Why should only the rich get to waive 100% of their taxes, when we only get to mitigate away 20%?.. :imp:

And how many trucks are running empty?

good lad…

Cars are simply too big with too many seats. The answer is go-karts. Split the outside lane of motorways in to two narrow lanes that only go-karts and motorbikes can use and all normal size vehicles have to stay in lanes one and two with the lorries and coaches.

Attached is a diagram to make my idea clearer.
