Single carriageway with 2 lanes in Chesham

Would love to know what the traffic planning department was smoking when they came up with idea of a ‘single carriageway with two lanes in each direction’ in Chesham :exclamation: :unamused: :unamused:

What is the point of it, the lanes are barely big enough for a car let alone a truck :exclamation: :exclamation: . But when I’m on it in a truck you take up both lanes yet cars still try and get past but there simply isn’t the room :exclamation: :exclamation: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: .

Quote edited to change the correct definition of the road in question

got a map link to it

CLICKY the road is on your top left and follow it down the page, when you drive down it the white line is under the wheel of the truck if ya get me.

oh, i’ll say this now before you say it rog, its not a dual carriageway as such because nothing seperates the flow of traffic :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

dual carriageway

Thanks for the map
I now see that it is not a dual carriageway but a single carriageway with two lanes in each direction.
From the total available road width it seems like the planners have decided that two narrow lanes in each direction will ease flow for the majority of vehicles in busy times.

I know the road you mean, drove it a lot until recently. If you stay in the left hand lane, you get the odd car which will try to overtake, most of them give up and hang back. Whenever I approach the roundabouts though I used to straddle the lanes, it’s much too tight for any vehicle other than a bike to draw alongside.
