Since it's high vis season, a serious question

Any tips on what to use to wash high vis jackets to get marks out, normally they come out of the wash smelling nice but looking as dirty as they went in.

Any tips? I keep buying a new one every month or so but surely there must be some miracle formula to be applied to solve my problem.

Serious answers on a postcard please

Your not supposed to wash a hi vizier than 10 times because it loses its hi visibility, true story.

Spray with G101 and scrub.

Same applies to pretty much anything. No, really. Seats, engines, bird dirt, ovens, patios…

If G101 doesn’t work on something, dilute it less.

Doesn’t your employer provide them? You know, like they should, by law.

Oh god, you’re not agency, are you? :open_mouth:

Smear washing up liquid into the marks then put in the normal wash then hey presto lol :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

bird dirt…

Snail trails?

Stain devils usually work (grease/oil), so does oven cleaner and white spirit.

It’s been a bad day if my high vis gets dirty…

A good fire usually works, or give it to your favourite agency driver…

Pretty much anything you can use to wash grease off a hi-viz coat ruins the waterproofing. They’re £20 a pop, just buy a new one when its more black than hi-viz.

Vests on the other hand can go through the washing machine just fine.

Rub swarfega on the offending agency man stain and bang it the washer

For those that don’t know G101 is an Autosmart product, which is a general APC (all purpose cleaner).
Soaking in diluted TFR would also be suitable to clean a dirty Hi-vis followed by rinsing, then running through the washing machine.
Another product to consider is Stardrops, I use it diluted sprayed on car upholstery before wet vac’ing it

No way. Agency wear their greasy hi-viz’ like a badge of honour

To those that have come up with suggestions, I also have a question…

What do you wash your pinnies with? :open_mouth:

Yeh, but he won’t destroy it - it has many useful years of life left - as a 5th wheel wipe…

I just rub this all over my jacket, no need to wash it

Its amazing what ends up getting on a hi-viz. I saw one the other day with a useless flap of skin on it!

Oh…hang on a min. Nope, sorry. That was our agency driver.

HA HA HA you guys are so funny with the agency guys jokes i almost fell asleep !

I just bang my vest through the washer on a boil wash, and every time I see someone in the uniform room at work, I ask for a new one, whether I need it or not.

Some nice clean ones here taken from A hi vis vest-jacket ruined my picture!
