Hi all,

Ive just started learning the ropes and the rules are confusing me.

I know that after every 4.5 hrs driving a 45 min break must be taken and it can be split during the drive of 15 mins and 30 mins but i keep hearing 6 hrs driving being mentioned and dont know whether thats right or not.

Is there a link anywhere that tells it all in simple terms.

the six hours you will be hearing about will be regarding the wtd n not driving

which after 6 hours of working you need to taken at least 30 mins break

Ah ok, so it is the 4.5 hrs then 45 mins then i take it.

Thats right, by the end of doing 4.5 hours driving you should of taken a 15/30 or a 45, if you do another 4.5 hours driving you have to have a full 45 to do another hour driving.

The break only needs to be 15 minutes before exceeding 6 hours work, not 30 minutes. You could use it as the first part of a tacho 45 minutes if you wished which is one of the reasons it is 15 and not 30.
