So, next month it will be 25 years since I passed my Class 1 test, first go I should add, is it something that should be celebrated?
Even after all this time and the few million miles I still remember most of what happened on it, even though I can’t remember what happened last week.
Would also like to add, it cost me £800 for a 5 day course, in 2011 that would be roughly £2000 so not far out on prices.
To be really sad I could ring DVLA and get the exact date I passed the test as the plastic part of the licence doesn’t tell me!
Me, I’m counting down the days to when it’s all over & I retire, not counting up how long I’ve been doing it.

Some, just some people still enjoy the job though, haha.

You So and So,
This made me think for a few mins…With a calculator I worked out I had a licence for 10,351 days (over 28 yrs) until they took it away, for a cost of £430 .
Not a bad cost ratio, and never had a ticket or an offence in a truck. Only if that were true on the bikes !
Silver Jubilee so your fairly new to the job then. This month has been my Ruby Jubilee and interestingly the guy I have been working with has recently managed to negociate his self
out of the contract we were working on so my services are no longer required. The most damned annoying thing is I had 7 tacho cards left and a week ago bought another packet so
anyone wanting to buy a packet of tacho cards for £6k I’ll throw in a Maggie as well.40 years great life, great fun and interesting,I have no complaints.
I’ve got twenty years in this year and seven years as a fitter before that and I don’t even think I’ve scratched the surface yet.
Congrats on your Jubilee
