Despite bad reviews stopped over there last week as the M11 was closed with an accident and decided to use the old great north road. Didn’t see any showers and I was lucky to get food as they usually stop serving before 7pm, but I’m glad I did. Went for the roast lamb dinner and a cuppa which was included in the £15 to park and it was one of the best meals I’ve had. Only a couple of other trucks parked there when I arrived just before 7pm and only two more arrived after me. I will definitely be using again, 100 times better than the MSA’s at Stansted and Cambridge, and don’t even go there with the hole that is Alconbury. Kate’s Cabin is decent though a bit further up on the A1 as they include your meal in the price too.
Kate’s cabin is a zb hole .

Seems alright to me. Cheap to park - tick, meal included in parking - tick.
Give me that over Alconbury where you get nothing and the food is a rip-off (paid for out of my pocket)
Alconbury for me (free) although Marmite appear to have took over a quarter of the parking but don’t mind trying new experiences, thanks for the heads up will have a go at Silver Ball if in the area.
Dipperdave, it has been posted about that Marmite have bought Alconbury, don’t know if you knew.

It’s an old fashioned place, bordering on a bit run down, so don’t expect much, but you get a big dinner and cuppa in with the cost. Just don’t park up after 7 or the cafe will be shut.
No worries I like a bit of old school charm, the sweetest tune can be played on the oldest fiddle, as they say…
Lincoln farm is also a time warp from the 1950,s , no modifications or change since then.
But God bless the owners.

Some weeks its my second home, love it…
Great staff, great showers, good food with massive portions, parking surface ideal for wheel ■■■■■■■ like me, great large screen projector telly and bar. Had some great laughs on footy nights then staggering around trying to find me truck (top tip memorise the truck at the front of your row but be wary as this can change).
Ideal if you want a quiet night or prefer to socialise a bit.
I should add here that although I have a massive tolerance for vodka after 3 pints of larger (my tipple of choice in the week) im on me arse or somebody elses if im lucky.

Don’t know how long you’ve been driving Dave, but a guy like you would have loved the …adult entertainment in the upstairs bar there in the 80s.
A complete den of eniquity at that time, it even made the scandal section in the Sunday papers.
My Mrs read it and asked if it was the same Lincoln Farm that I stayed at, I said ‘‘No love, the one I go to is in Lincoln’’ .
Before my time unfortunately Rob, remember a Thusday strippers night at Chesterfield from my youth but its a very blurred memory, sure I was covered in talc and baby lotion at somepoint or could have dreamt it.
Donkey’s years ago, Kate’s Cabin was fantastic quality food. I last used it 3yrs ago, and it was dire. I won’t be going there again. I think that Stibbington Diner has gone the same way also, and the day staff could do with enrolling at charm school, and lose their attitude. As for the Silver Ball, I’d totally forgotten about that. I’ve not been in there for 20 odd years. I’ll have to check it out.

I like Kate’s cabin. In fact I like anywhere where the meal is included in the parking. It’s the places that give you nothing like Alconbury I hate, or the places that give you a paltry £3 voucher off food that’s charged at £3 premium to start with.

That’s the problem, a lot of these crap holes were good places 20+ yrs ago, and have just declined to rock bottom.
Strathcathro and Quernhow to name 2.
I never passed Quernhow once over without stopping for a meal, and the grills and home made rice pudding at Strathcathro were legendary in early 80s.

You were driving when I was still in nappies crawling backwards!
I s’pose the bad ones have been knackered by msa’s and partly because of people using the ‘easy’ motorways whenever they can.

So you like zb holes with a parking area full of puddles and where the toilets have no soap on a regular basis, puts me right off knowing I’ll be getting the loose change and handling the knifes n forks from some one who dumps and dosent wash thier hands ,enough said .
