Never had sick pay other then the government statutory sick pay which isn’t worth a toss.
Pubs are the best places to give your immune system a workout, talk about a germfest. My usual order now is a pint of lager and packet of wet wipes.
RDC waiting rooms have to come a close second.
I’m asthmatic and really would prefer these blasted people who think they are wonderful for going into work with a cold or 'flu would stop and think first
Tramping can be a bit of a nightmare when feeling a bit poorly.
Usually twice a year I’ll get a 24/48 hour cold, feel as rough as a bears arris then start getting better.
Sods law is it starts Sunday and I’m covered in snot by Monday, that horrible stuff that tickles your nose on the way down then dew drops off the tip before you have time to grab a tissue.
But knocking a Monday off would really bugger me up, my truck kit would have to be bagged up by someone and I would have to write the week off.
Often I’ve said to the wife that if I had a normal job I wouldn’t have gone into work that day.
There is an upside though as once I get into work I can inform the office I’m not well, to be fair they will ask if I’m ok to drive, let’s face it I driven Erf’s with non synchro boxes so these point and squirt jobbies that class as articulated vehicles these days ain’t gonna be to much of a challenge.
Anyway once it’s confirmed I’m ok to crack on I will request no jobs that involve waiting rooms due to being slightly contagious, to be fair I’m self banned from Amazon and Sainsbury’s so that helps plus waiting room bollox doesn’t happen much in my job.
They will probably give me one job and a long drive and I’ll be my usual self by Tuesday/Wednesday.
Not happened yet but if I was so ill I couldn’t go into work Monday I’d probably ask for a week’s holiday pay and play on me truck simulator at home till the next week.
Why not put the money aside from the sick days but mske sure you take enough to earn the £250 at least? [emoji2]

The reality is a lot of “those blasted people” don’t have much option in many cases so you’re being a tad unreasonable there. Go live in a bubble and see how you get on. I have it myself right now and was looking forward to passing it onto the ■■■■ of a manager who has put me in that position. We were down to do dCPC together but he’s cried off for some reason…maybe he’s not well?

You may be correct.
I did live in a ‘bubble’ for a while. In the old days hospitals put kids with bad asthma in a torture chamber called an oxygen tent. It was like a large plastic wrapped crib and you weren’t allowed any contact with humans. My mum used to come to see me and all she was allowed to do was pass me drinks through the zip on the side. I have had pneumonia 3 times now and I am missing part of one of my lungs.
If you don’t mind I will still prefer people not to pass on their colds to me as now I am over 50 I would still like to hang around a little longer if it’s OK with you. I have bills to pay as well so maybe I’m not the only selfish person??
