Sick and Driver hours Query

There was a question on the other forum about this that has got thinking.

It looks like being sick still counts towards the WTD rules but does it have any effect on drivers hours?

If you had 1 day sick would this be counted as 8 hours and if so when would the time start from? Would it be your “usual” start time? At the end of the sick period would you then need to take a daily rest even though technically being sick you have been resting

No,bring off sick doesn’t count as work so it won’t go on your WTD,only holidays do.

Pretty sure it does count towards WTD.

Still doesn’t say much about when the 8 hours is calculated from and if you still need a daily rest AFTER the 8 hours sickness is over?

If you finished a shift on Monday at 7pm. Had 11 hours rest. And at 9am phoned in sick. If shift would have started at 10am do you count 8 hours from 10am? “Shift” ends at 5pm. Do you take a daily rest from 5pm?

Answered on the other thread.

It’s rest for drivers hours and 8 hours for WTD average

Working time directive WTD
