Simon,
unless thats a can of Irn-Bru being used as a safety block there is no way it will stop that from rolling back down the yard!!

conway baileys shunter which is getting on a bit but still active and used every day and puts the scott trawlers unit and trailer to shame !! the scott trawlers driver was in our yard transhipping and was told by one of the fitters you may be king of the road but in here you are just in the way now move please !!! or words to that effect .
thats the sort of unit I like to see - old and battered but still pulling.
I worked on the Salhouse Road estate in Norwich abt 8 years ago and Fitzmaurice carriers had a couple of old wagons flying about the yard - a Ford Cargo – very noisy and smoky but looked good with the old sleeper cab and also an old early 80’s Merc with that really thin cab - that really was a heap
Also
I now live in Dudley - still plenty of steelyards about and several have quite old (70’s and 80’s) flats hauling steel around the area - there’s a nice SA 400 chugging about Lye occasionally

No Idea about that but Benton Bros have 2 Scania T-Cabs, ones on the road working the others a shunter down in Boston depot or on Boston Docks.
shame they werent both yard shunters, would save me from having to look at em.
tut,tut,kindle,
That Guy Warrior (Invincible) cab was the bees knees in its day.
First British truck with standard sunvisor, first with a cigarette lighter, massive cab that was easy to kip in (fore and aft on the bonnet if you weren’t too tall) but the handbrake on the one I had disappeared into the floor. Only the handle was showing. You yanked it up and down to set it (ratchet) and stamped on a button in the handle with your heel to release. Trouble was you couldn’t put it into gear and hold the clutch down before doing that, tricky for hill starts.
Went to Ken Thomas at Guyhurn the other day, remembered this post so got a pic of this
Saw this one at Godwins yard in West Hay near Glastonbury.
Shunter spotted in Oxfordshire a couple months ago
It was still working hard And on the road too, not just in the yard
The beast at work!
