Bang on DD, boys hours. When I were a lad…
Plus that, back in them days there was no cab heaters, no power steering and the “bed” was a plank between the seats, the clutch was so heavy it needed two feet to depress it and the gearbox was an eaton twin splitter (whatever the hell that is). Lunch consisted of some fifth wheel grease smeared on two pieces of bread and if you did less than 800 miles a day you were considered “part time” (Even stopping for lunch meant you ran the risk of being labelled “a pansy”)

Wtf is all this ‘FORCING’ drivers to work long hours ■■■■■■■■.
Have these drivers never heard that famous 4 word phrase ‘‘Go and [zb] yourself’’
I don’t get that either. If you’re not happy doing something, don’t do it.

ve heard it all now…less than 800 miles a day nowadays over here means your a shunter…we also had to steal someone elses 5th wheel grease if we wanted to liven up a slice of bread.you can slow down a bit hilst eating it,but stopping means youe a big puff, and leaves you open for 1,your jotters, and 2,a good kicking from the lads.
When I got to cut my license from the box of Kelloggs Cornflakes (other cereals are available ) I had to do a H&S induction for using the scissors and wear full PPE gear.
I wish I could go back in time and be a real driver

I expect quite a few did, and at least one of them grassed him up.
Don’t think I’d grass an ex employer up personally as it’d stitch up the lads you’d worked with and wouldn’t do your future prospects in a local area much good, but can’t blame the driver that did. The boss got what he deserved.
I’ve just read that media report again. One part of his business is Ltd; the other, sp tractors is’nt. ( ie. The ancillary staff… drivers ) can go & dump judging by his business etiquette. The drivers therefore should now have a claim against him.If he is the legitimate ‘O’ licence holder, then for loss of earnings Contempt & gross malicious attitude to his employees let the drivers stake their claim. Stitch him for every penny…

holding group/family have got their fingers in many pies.
I used to be run out near his brother Rob holding of R.L Holding transport services. Wonder if they’ll look into other parts of the companies now
That’s what I implied from my post mega ,and all respect to ya. The PLC part of that ‘company’ means that when he comes out of ‘clink’, he’ll still have the roof over his head, but it was a case of ‘stuff anyone else lower down on the books’…
