Showers at washington services

As a female tramper that had spent 3 days tramping round north of scotland on wednesday I was looking forward to grabbing a shower. On 4hrs 20mins at washington services my hopes were shattered :frowning:
I was told point blank the showers were for men only and I was not aloud :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
I was told i could use the basin in the disabled toilets to get a wash !!!
You nasty men out there apparantly objected to us using the shower as they are in the mens ((i promised not to look )
Yet that rule doesnt seem to matter when there are male cleaners in the ladies

Whilst I sympathise completely I used them a few months ago and had to complain,as they were minging.
You could of scraped the muck off the floor.
I know the cleaner probably only gets paid a pittance, but should be sacked.
But, you are JUST a lorry driver you see.

Depends which way you came down from Scotland as know Purdy Lodge have showers for us women

Also if you come down the M74 most of the MSA have female showers ( Annandale water are quite nice )

You could do what I have done ( warwick ) just use the mens

Or I did many many times at Magor! Use the ladies pink shower! :sunglasses:
Well the men’s one ain’t fit for a dog! :smiling_imp:

Unfortunately didnt have time to stop at purdy (needed to get drop off before the closed)
Point blank refused to let me use the mens but still wanted me to pay same price to park (took a 45 and went into a 10 on principle) :imp:

Council run leisure centres usually let you use the showers for free, problem is they are more than 50metres from a motorway so that will be a problem for the majority of drivers who are too scared to venture that far

If i saw you using the shower i wouldn’t be bothered about it

Don’t know why the person stopped you because other men wouldn’t care at all

Just a thought, most of us are decent blokes despite whats said here :smiling_imp: , might be worth having a chat with one or two of the more approachable sensible drivers around and get them to keep ‘dicky eye’ whilst you nip in the mens shower if such a situation arises again.

What the jobsworths gonna do arrest you?

msptstop you didn’t miss anything. I had a shower there once; felt dirtier than I had before I went in.

You should have ask the manager why you were not ALLOWED to have a shower, and insist on that you will have a shower.

Bloody disgraceful. And sexist I should imagine. I doubt they were up to much though, as has been posted.

You should have kicked off about how sexist they were. I bet they’d have let you shower then…and I can’t imagine many blokes objecting to a female nipping into the mens to have a shower. If they do, tough ■■■■.

When the women’s showers at Thurrock were out of action for getting on 10 months - I got the manager out and threatened to strip in the restaurant and use the bottled water if she didn’t sort something out. She hurridly took me to the Travel lodge to use one of theirs. That was a close call for all concerned

On subsequent occasions, I would hang around the men’s showers and ask the next bloke going in to check if it was ok for me to walk through to one of the cubicles in there.

I now just use the men’s if no alternative - as long you respect others privacy and don’t just go barging in - I hope no-one minds.

Absolute disgrace msptstop! :open_mouth: :unamused: get onto moto first thing tomorrow morning, AND LAY DOWN THE LAW! :grimacing: most MSAs showers are unisex now, whether there in the opposite toilets matters not! I showered in Warwick m40 south, on my 45 min break, in the ladies! :grimacing: got some strange looks and some cockney bird give it large " Er you forgetting something driver? " to which I replied " yes, twelve more inches, I’d I’ve been a ■■■■■■■■■ too! :grimacing: " some old dear says " I’d wished I’d known before you went in! " made me chuckle anyway! :grimacing: :grimacing:

There is a â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  joke to be had here, but i dont want to lower the tone :grimacing:

get one of them solar showers and hang it from the trucks mirror next time and have the shower in the truck park…proberbly be cleaner than some truck stop showers as well.

I used to find a hose pipe and have a wash that way, bearing in mind i was in hot countries and i dried off in seconds.
I once used the lawn sprinklers at the Ford motor plant in Azumbuja, i was covered in shampoo and soap and the maintenance man spotted me and turned off the water leaving me covered in suds, stings the eyes too.

too true, totally disgusting.

i took my wife on a few trips, we’ve used the showers in austria, hungary, and germany.
they always had at least one separate female shower, and always spotless.
and as i was with my wife, i was allowed to use the same one.
we had to pay a couple of euros, but it was well worth it.

if those showers weren’t clean, then her indoors would have started an international incident.
