Not at all mate, if they are looked after right they are awesome. Mine is being rebuilt as we speak to get more power and more reliability. Taking away the problematic vacuum /solenoid system and converting it to single turbo and aftermarket electronic management, should be seeing a power figure of around 500hp

That’s a surprise never heard a good thing about them ■■■■■■ engines but I only new one person who owned a rx8 and only had it a few months
I used to rebuild ■■■■■■■ professionally back in the RX2/3/4 days. Loved it - used a dial gauge & micrometer more than my snap-ons for `em! Fantastic power units when tight and sorted, but frightening guzzlers!

I was thinking about buying a rx8 but i was worried about the engines and i couldn’t afford the diesel 
Id worry more about the annual fuel/oil expenditure than anything else, tbh! Not cheap to run. You dont see boy racers tear arsing around in `em do ya?

Well you would see some of them in rx7s but most of them are more interested in there d turbos
I want a rx4 myself as I’m a big fan of that era of Japanese cars /" skyline120a /280z etc etc but the rx7 is the car I always promised myself,
Yes the engine has been rebuilt to incredibly fine tolerances and should be as sweet as a nut, the housing have all been resurfaced, the complete engine assembly has been balanced and the fuel system is future proofed for the potential to run E85 fuel without degrading,
Should be a nice little ride

■■■■■■ engines are good as long as they are looked after and the seals are changed and you don’t over heat it. I still think I might get a rx8 has anyone here owned one
After owning 2 imported Impreza’s I got myself this beast but truth of the matter is I sold it on about 7 years ago to a young squaddie!
Fastest bloody thing I ever drove in my life. It had mild mods like filters and exhaust plus a little boost tweak and was about 400HP.
This was also the first car I picked up 3 speeding points with in 2005 after having a clean license since 1983 but funnily enough I only got done for doing 36 in a 30 on the way back from a track day near Bristol.
I only had it a year but it was fun whilst it lasted and bloody expensive! 
What have I got now?
A beaten 03 plate Passat estate.
