Show off your Motor

Horrible plain yolk. Should know better at your age

All this talk about wife’s car is now thankfully a dim distant memory for this old man, my 85 year old ( we think) wife voluntarily gave up driving a couple of years ago. Locals went to church to give thanks that she was off the road, she sure as hell could make my Jaguar go. Scary.

A few years ago we were cruising down a de-restricted German autobahn (I ‘chickened out’ at 130mph, too fast for me), then you know who chirps up…“can I have a go now”…“NO YOU CAN NOT”

Me too. One of these would do it (if only my knees and wrists and so on would stop screaming at me):

Great bike. Big twins sound great, still plenty of power to make good progress.

Handy snack bag on the tank!

I’ve only ever owned one motor bike that was a James Cadet back early '60s.
This is his touring bike and I was quite amazed at the amount of electrickery that is in it/on it, satnav/google maps screen and another screen for all sorts of adjustment controlled by a knurled control on the left twist grip. Headlight adjusts with lean on corners and on braking dip he talked me through most of it which of course I have already forgotten. For other bikers looking in the large tank gives approx 350 miles.

Sure there’s a pic of the SP1 I used to have on here somewhere. Stunning bikes.

James motorbike! That name brings back memories. As teenagers in the 1960s, my brother & I bought a James motorbike, a Sun motorbike (I can’t remember the models) & a Lambretta Li 125cc from a neighbours garage who’d passed away for the princely sum of 12 quid.

We ended up wreaking them riding across the fields & coal spoil heaps of the old Pretoria mine.

I used to race an SP1 in endurance racing

Well they say the wet belt is the issue with these eco - boom engines , but my issue seems to be oxygen sensors , another set gone apparently , good job I took out the extra 2 yrs warranty

You just knew moaster would be along to make us all seem a bit in inadequate ( or at least me ) motorbike riding wise ha ha

Todays dreaming , though mrs did say I love the colour of that

Well don’t leave us in suspenders - tell us how you got on. Rub shoulders with anyone we might know?

Has it got of them new-fangled electric starters too?

On the last big ride I did a couple of years ago, one of my mates turned up on his newish Multistrada and the stuff on it was endless - electronically-controlled adjustable damping/ pre-load/ rebound, “cornering ABS” whatever that might be, power modes and so on.

Don’t take it to heart Ady, they do say that everyone is very good at one thing at least but most never find it. I’m average at most things, it just happened that motorcycles were my forte. If I could’ve beaten people at pool or darts I’d have far less titanium in me and a far healthier bank balance :joy:

I have an impressive trophy cabinet :joy: when I started racing I raced in the Honda Hornet class which was combined with the CB500 class. My first year I came second to a guy called Dennis Hobbs, the guy who won the CB’s was a Mr James Toseland. I’ve competed against Casey Stoner, Ron Haslam and James Ellison and failed to beat any of them :joy::joy:

I was lucky enough to call Keith Flint RIP and Karl Harris RIP friends, and I still call Colin Edwards a mate

This is Colin trying to get into my Mrs pants! :joy:

I took the picture of Edward’s. That’s not me in it. I’m the one stood to James Toselands left

My old lass owned her 19 years now..

I’ve been with my old lass 29 years next month, only problem is the suspension is shot, her big end is knocking and her emissions are foul!:rofl::rofl:
